Time to Wine

My brother-in-law is in town, and yesterday we took him to two local wineries to taste some wines. It was such a fun time tasting a few whites, some reds, a few sparkling wines as well as some specialty dessert wines. In both tasting rooms the attendants were very friendly and fun and made the experience truly memorable. Plus, slowly sipping some wine (or water) and catching up was very nice.

Question: What are some things you do with out-of-town visitors in or around where you live?

Be well,

Andrea

  1. Eating out is usually part of the entertainment in New Orleans. My out-of-town guests typically love to explore the city, especially the French Quarter.

  2. Indianapolis is home to the 500 race so the track is a very popular tourist destination. And we have the Colts and the newly opened Lucas Stadium. The Canal area downtown is also a very popular site with the museums and the zoo. And the Indianapolis Children's Museum is one of the best in the country.
Indiana is home to several good wineries and we are seeing more and more of them pop up. We have Oliver's which is close to Indiana University in Bloomington and Thomases which is here in Indianapolis.

  3. That sounds like so much fun. When I lived in Vegas we usually hit the strip and Red Rock Canyon. I haven't had any visitors here, but I would say the winery, local restaurants, the caves, the beach and the 2 main cities. I guess the whole island!

  4. We usually will go to Sedona for the day. There isn't much entertainment around where we live besides the typical movies and food.

  8. Hi Andrea!
What a FUN setting for a wine tasting! I have only ever been once, and I was underage so I couldn't even taste them! :(
When we had visitors while we were living in the UK, we would always take them to London and Stonehenge :)

  9. How fun! If we had a nice winery around here, I would definitely bring out of town guests. However, the only reason people come to COlumbus form out of town is usually to see the Buckeyes play, therefore that's what we do! Other than that, Columbus isn't too exciting :( Easton (a shopping mall) is another huge attraction, but again, BORING!

I always take out-of-town visitors to eat in San Francisco and to the Ferry Building farmers market. Never ceases to impress.

  13. Wine tasting is so great, we haven't done it in a little while, although my husband did do some wine tasting by himself in Oregon recently. Our activities for out-of-town guests are easy - we're 15 minutes away from Washington DC.

  14. Fun times!! I love wine tastings. It's always fun to taste the different varieties. It's always great to go with a bunch friends too.

I try to take any out of town visitors anywhere. I never have a set plan. It's usually the "go with the flow of the day" kind of thing.

  15. Okay - this is soooo sad, but the truth is there is NOTHING to do in the city we live in. We have to drive 1.5 hours in the car to see any culture. It is so sad. We usually hang around the house when we have visitors because they just made the 1.5 hour drive from the airport!

  18. Funny thing you ask, we go wine tasting a LOT of the time! You can find great local wineries all over the US. That tasting room is so cute, I love it!

  19. I like to take my visitors to Historic Downtown Salem, Oregon. We get a cup of coffee at a local coffee house, grab a bite to eat at a local resturant and then browse the cute downtown shops. :)

  20. Love the "Group Therapy sign".

We have some beautiful lakes here, so we often take them out on the boat for some relaxing/skiing.

You are making me want to visit some wineries though!
