Black & White Outfit and Rothenburg

We came back from our Germany trip last week. The foundation of my travel wardrobe was black & white, and it worked out very well. Visiting Germany in July is always a bit unpredictable as the weather can range from cold and rainy to hot and humid - and we experienced it all! But the black and white pieces - with some blue and green accent colors - worked very well. If you want to see some of the outfits that I wore while we were gone, you can check out my Instagram account. I even purchased some additional black and white items while we were gone. I’ll show you what I bought over the next weeks. One item I added is a black & white bag with a photo of my hometown.

I’m usually not a big fan of “touristy items,” but I really liked the black & white bag. And I carried it right away with a black and white outfit. I like the way it looks, and it is very practical as it allows me to carry a lot.

I wore the black and white outfit when we visited an animal park as well as Rothenburg. Rothenburg is a very touristy place but quite charming nonetheless, and it’s definitely worth a short visit when you are nearby.

Questions: What do you buy when you are on vacation? I’m not a big fan of purchasing traditional souvenirs, and the bag is an exception. I love buying scarves and jewelry however (they are light and small), and I added several pieces while on vacation… Ok, I also bought some shoes, a dress, a coat, a tunic, some tees… I love wearing items I bought while on vacation as they always bring me back to our vacation when I wear them...

Raspberry & White

Raspberry and white is still one of my favorite color combos for summer. Several months ago, I wore my raspberry top with my white denim jacket. This time I paired the top with white skinny jeans.

Raspberry White 2

I also carried my pale pink Coach satchel; I love the two tones of pink together.

Romper Love

I bought the striped romper several years ago at Old Navy, but I never really wore it. In the past weeks, I have seen a lot of rompers on blogs, and I remembered that mine was tucked away in the back of my closet. So I decided to give it a try!

Romper 3

I decided to add a second layer by wearing my white vest. And to add a bit of color, I carried my Desigual bag. It’s light and therefore the perfect travel bag so it made it into my travel wardrobe. Plus, it’ll add just a bit of color to my mainly neutral travel outfits.

Outfit details: Romper Old Navy old (I really like this vertically-striped romper), white vest old (I like this white denim vest), Desigual bag (similar), Birkenstock Gizeh sandals.

I like the romper for a casual outfit, even though it’s quite a bit shorter than what I usually wear. It’s definitely reserved for very casual outings or vacations...

Questions: Do you own a romper? If so, how do you like it?

Boho Top

I love my Boho top. It’s made of very thin cotton and has a beautiful embroidery on the top (which you can’t see since it’s covered up by the scarf). It’s a great, light top, and I find it keeps me cooler than a shorter sleeve top. It is part of my travel wardrobe as it goes with a variety of the bottoms I’ll bring.

Boho Top 1

It was actually quite windy (and therefore somewhat cool) on the day I wore the top, and I was happy I wore the scarf. I’m currently debating whether to bring the scarf on our trip as it really doesn’t exactly fit into my travel wardrobe color palette, but I love it with the top (plus, it would go with the black/white outfits)… We’ll see.

How to Make Kefir at Home

Several weeks ago I was contacted by MicroBiota, Inc. to see if I was interested in trying out and reviewing a home kefir fermenter. I had no idea what to expect, but I knew that I Iike kefir and sometimes buy it from my “raw milk guy” at the Farmers’ Market as it’s a great probiotic.

I was pleasantly surprised when the fermenter turned out to be a jar with kefir grains that can be easily stored in the fridge.

Kefir Fermenter 1

It’s super easy to make kefir with the kefir fermenter.

1. Rinse the grains in water (the grains are in a small container attached to the straw).
2. Add milk of your choice.
3. Let the milk ferment at room temperature for 20 - 24 hours.
4. Enjoy the kefir!

Kefir Fermenter 2

It’s that simple! I was seriously impressed. When you don’t want to make kefir you should store the kefir grains in milk in the jar in the fridge (for up to four weeks) or the freezer (for longterm storage).

The kefir turned out nice and tangy. Really perfect. I know I will be using the kefir fermenter often and enjoy homemade kefir for a long time to come.

Questions: Have you ever had kefir? If so, do you like it? Have you ever made kefir yourself? If so, how did you make it and how did it turn out?

Be well,
Andrea

[Disclosure: I was provided a kefir fermenter free of charge. As always, all opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links, and www.andreaswellnessnotes.com will earn a commission if you purchase a kefir fermenter through one of my links.]

Floral Pants

Summer Pants

My floral pants are great summer pants. They are made of thin material, and I love the bright flowers on the dark background. They can be worn with so many different tops to change up the look.

Pattern Mixing

I decided to do a little pattern mixing by pairing the floral pants with a striped tee. Last time I wore them I paired them with a polka dot blouse. It’s funny to me that I naturally think of pairing the pants with a print now, but that just a year ago, I would have only worn them with a solid.

Floral Pants 2

Pink Purse

For a summery touch of color, I added my pink Rebecca Minkoff MAB bag.

Questions:  Do you like florals? If so, what’s your favorite floral piece of clothing? What are you wearing today that you wouldn’t have worn a year ago?
