Some Winter Evening Fun And Some Awards

Last night we visited the Garden Theme Park and enjoyed the holiday lights. I know that it doesn’t get that cold here in California, but I was freezing. I think it’s because I just don’t own “real” winter clothes anymore. When I lived in a colder climate, I had lots of coats, boots, gloves, hats, and scarves to keep me warm. But now I always think, “Oh, this is California. It doesn’t get that cold. I don’t need a lot of ‘warm stuff.’” Well, it does get quite cold at night, and I was quite uncomfortable. But the toddler had a great time and really enjoyed all the lights and walking around in the dark.

Over the past few weeks, I have received a few more awards. A big thank you to Tamara and Diane! I read both of their blogs every day and always take something away… And they have very different blogs. Tamara is in the process of losing the last few pounds and is trying to figure out what works for her with humor, honesty, & reflection. And Diane has lost 150 pounds and kept it off for 10 years, all while raising 7 kids! Plus, she lost the weight before she was done having kids, which means she lost the pregnancy weight over and over and over. She writes thought-provoking posts every day.

Tamara awarded me the Superior Scribbler Award.

The Rules & Regulations are as follows:

Diane awarded me the Atta Girl Award. The award was created by Lori E.

Here are the rules that come with the award:

1. When you inform the recipient of their award you must also include these steps 1-6 with your post.
2. You will please add a link back to Lori E's site so others can find the award too.
3. You will please contact me with the name of the blog you are awarding so I can add them to the list.*very important*
4. You will NOT require the recipients to "tell 5 things about themselves" or any other lists in order to receive this award.
5. You will NOT require the recipients to pass this award to anyone else. This must be a personal choice that they make and not an obligation to receiving the award.
6. Share it with as many people as you like as long as I receive notification and you also post these steps with it.

Thank you Tamara & Diane for these awards. And I want to thank all my blogging friends for reading, commenting, and staying in touch by e-mail. My blog is one way for me to focus on joyous moments in my life and has truly enriched my life and helped me through a very difficult time in my life over the past few months. I want to thank all of you! That’s why I cannot only pass these awards on to a few of you…

Questions: What are your weekend plans? Is it cold where you are at? If so, how do you keep warm? I almost got some hot chocolate last night but decided against it. Looking back, I think I should have...

Be well,

  1. Beautiful park; and congratulations on the award!

    It's FREEEEZING where I am - 23°F.

  2. Oh how fun!! Nick and I go to the lights at the Columbus Zoo every year, and yes, we do buy hot cocoa to stay warm! Well, live and learn, right?

It's cold here, but not snowing yet. I walked outside this morning and my eyes started to water.

    Congrats on the awards!

  3. it's snowing here!!! it's soooo pretty but sooo cold as well! So weekend plan? stay in! :D
    congrats on the awards!

  4. Looks like a fun time.

It's raining and cold here in LA. I can actually go for some hot cocoa right about now. Yum!!!

  5. Oh my gosh, that looks like so much fun!!

Our city park is doing something similar every weekend in December and I keep thinking about going.

Our weekend plans involve cleaning the house. (FUN! Not!!!) And then *maybe* we'll start to decorate for Christmas.

  6. What a wonderful winter wonderland! I'm reading your post about it not being cold and I'm sitting here watching the snow fall in our first one of the year! I'm loving it now, but I'll hate it in two weeks, I'm sure! haha!

  7. Congrats on the awards! Sounds like a fun night! We like to use LOTS of blankets and I drink LOTS of tea to stay warm!

  8. I'm getting a big bowl of udon in a few minutes. That's my way of staying warm. Hah. Hey, one can never go wrong with a lot of carbs in a big, brothy bowl.

  9. Oooh those lights are pretty :) I can see why the toddler had such a good time!

I hear it's pretty cold at night in California, so I'm sure it was, especially without your winter clothes!

For some odd reason, we have no precipitation this week (odd for Seattle), but if we did, then we would have snow!

  10. What a fun park, my daughter would have loved all those lights! It's snowing today in wash dc!

  11. Hello! Just settling in from our trip (and it's been almost a week! Kids still not adjusted time-wise)

It was COLD last night! We were bundled up and even my Brit hubby kept saying how cold he was lol

We haven't made it to the holiday park yet. Hopefully soon though.

  12. What a great night! Love the picture of the toddler in the cool!

We are going out Christmas tree shopping today- I'm excited and it is really cold the 30s...that should get me in the spirit!

    Have a great Sunday!

  13. we were just discussing last night taking JJ some place that had holiday lights....and it does get cold does it does...

Congratulations on some sweet awards...I love visiting your blog each day and seeing what's going on in Andrea's world!

    I love the snowflake lights!

  14. Congratulations on the awards, you deserve them!

Those Christmas decorations are beautiful! I took our puppy to the dog park this morning and we've been back for almost 2 hours and I'm still not warmed up. How did I ever survive in Chicago!??! I had a warm bowl of tomato soup for lunch...that helped a bit! Unfortunately, I have a cold hockey game this afternoon...but I love to play and I'm sweating before long so the cold will be temporary...and motivation to skate really, really fast!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  15. Cold doesn't often enter my mind when I think of California either. The light displys look lovely. Our city will have lights up starting Dec 12. It's called "Sparkles in the Park". As much as a don't like snow, the lights just don't look right without it.
