Simply Dressed Lunch Salad

Most days, I make it home for lunch, and often my lunch of choice is a salad.

The other day, I received a coupon for Marzetti Simply Dressed salad dressing through the Foodbuzz Tastemaker program. The dressing is refrigerated, and there are ten flavors to choose from.

I chose Blue Cheese as the toddler really enjoyed the blue cheese dressing hubby ordered in a restaurant a few weeks ago, and we never have it at home.

I first tried it on my lunch salad which consisted of leftover leaf lettuce, tomatoes, and halibut.

I was afraid the blue cheese dressing would not go with the fish, but it actually went very well. The dressing is creamy and has a slight, very pleasant blue cheese taste. The blue cheese is not at all overpowering, and I enjoyed it a lot.

Questions: What’s your favorite salad dressing? I usually dress my salad very simply with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. If I feel “fancy,” I’ll add some cheese. It’s fun to experiment with a good bottled dressing once in a while though. Any exciting weekend plans? Our last couple weekends have been really busy, and we have to catch up a lot around the house. I hope to get lots of things crossed off my do-to list so that I don’t feel too frazzled come Monday (I have been feeling that way too often lately…).

Be well,

  1. Hi Andrea! I'll do my big Sat and Sun workouts at the gym, but otherwise I'll be stuck in my office working for the weekend. Lots to be done since it sounds as though I might be traveling to Pittsburgh to see middle daughter in November.

    :-) Marion

  2. I love blue cheese dressing, but my favourite has to be fig balsamic. YUM!

When I first saw your salad I thought the halibut was BIG shavings of parm cheese! LOL

  3. Your salad looks yummy! I usually make my own simple balsamic vinegarette with golden balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper, but it's always fun to try new things. My family and I are headed up to LA this weekend for a big family get-together to celebrate what would have been my grandmother's 100 birthday {She passed away 6 years ago.} She was an amazing lady, so I'm really looking forward to the celebration. Have a fun "catch-up" weekend!

  4. Mmm and see blue cheese and fish sounds so good to me. But I am pretty crazy about my blue cheese :) Happy weekend, Andrea!

  5. When I was young I hated blue cheese, but I've grown to absolutely love it, and in fact (when we have it around) it's my favorite dressing! Usually I do something like you, with oil and vinegar, salt and pepper. I love to use the flavored vinegars, like blueberry and fig.
We're going to a wedding up north this weekend, for my cousin. It's a shotgun wedding....should be...interesting.

  6. Blue cheese is my favorite dressing... I'll have to give this one a try.

  7. Ranch. Always has been, and always will be. Though I rarely have it these days. That's okay, though, because there are many other great, tasty dressings. We're slowly but surely tending to the home, yes?

  8. I am not a fan of Blue Cheese dressing but hubby likes it. I have a couple of dressings that I like to make with good vinegar and olive oil, garlic Dijon mustard, salt and pepper.

I do buy a light Caesar dressing by Cardini's that we like and it makes it super fast and easy to put a dressed salad on the table.

I hop you got a lot of chores done this weekend. I have been kind of lazy this weekend. But sometimes we need a rest!

  9. I love balsamic dressings but I do have a weakness for creamy ones..especially like this blue cheese. Yum!

  10. Funny you mention blue cheese dressing- my favorite dressing on the globe is Bob's Big boy light. It doesn't even taste light and it's blue cheese and sooooooooo good. But you know me, I still thin it with white balsamic- or even red balsamic- yummm!. I have a post half written about salads and things to liven them up. that's one of the things :-? haha
