2010 - A Good Year

I’m very thankful that 2010 was a good year for us. Sure there were ups and downs, but the ups far outweighed the downs, and we are very thankful for that.

On January 1, I wrote down goals for 2010; here are the goals and how I did with them:
  • Continue to incorporate my 2009 goals into my life – I will continue to focus on my family and on trying to keep us all happy and healthyMy 2009 goals are still pretty much my overall life goals and things haven’t changed much.
  • Make green juice at least four times per week, preferably more often.I’m not that much into juicing at the moment, and four times per week is far too much right now. But as summer approaches, I plan on juicing more often again.
  • Take an exercise class; I have been avoiding this for far too long…I actually started taking exercise classes on a regular basis and really enjoy them.
  • Hike at least once per monthI didn’t reach this goal. But there was a stretch of a few months when I hiked quite regularly. And I even hiked a half marathon!
  • Find a better blog/life balance – I love this blog and the blogging world, but it can take up too much of my time. In the next few weeks, I will experiment with some “blogging rules” for myself…I didn’t follow any “rules” and it took me a while to “figure things out,” but I now do what feels right and don’t feel pressured to blog a certain number of times per week anymore, and I love my blog and how it fits into my life! Thank you for sticking with me through some very sporadic blogging phases…
Finally, here are some pictures from the year.

Thank you for being part of my life through this blog. I really love interacting with all of you via comments and e-mails. And if you are just “lurking,” I hope you’ll say “hi” sometime. But no pressure… Smile

Wishing you all a Happy & Healthy 2011!

Questions: What was a highlight of 2010? The teenager graduating from high school and going off to college was one of our highlights. I still can’t believe my “baby” is all almost grown up. What are your plans for tonight? We are going to have a quiet evening at home.

Be well,

  1. Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family, Andrea!!!

  2. Happy New Year Andrea! I hope you and your family continue to have health and happiness in 2011. And thank you for always rooting for me. I always really appreciate your comments and for being with me on this journey. :)

  3. I'd say you did very well fulfilling last years goals! If I lived closer I would love to hike with you. It's probably my favorite way to exercise!

    Happy New Year!!

  4. Us too on the quiet night at home. I like the hiking resolution; I may have to steal that one a little. :)

  5. My plans for tonight are just to relax. We're roasting a turkey just so I can have the carcass for making Chinese rice porridge later on. Since I was a guest at Thanksgiving, I was carcass-less. Hopefully, I manage to stay up till midnight. Will toast with some bubbly and send good thoughts to everyone for 2011. Happy New Year!

  6. Andrea, Happy New Year to you & yours! Love your photos. Just look at your little one, he's growing so fast. I'm glad he loves sticking with his elder brother. They both look very much alike though. :o) Have a fantastic holiday! Enjoy.
    Blessings, Kristy ((hugs))

  7. my plans for pretty much no plans :)) we went out early for dinner with some friends and came home as soon as our baby girl started to get fussy and sleepy.
now I'm just relaxing, reading and enjoying a hot tea :)

May this new year bring many opportunities to your way,
to explore every joy of life
may your resolutions for the days ahead stay firm,
turning all your dreams into reality
and all your efforts into great achievements.
Happy New Year to you & your loved ones.

  8. Great job reviewing your goals from last year. I think you had a great year and all these pics confirm that. The highlight of my year was all the traveling with my loved ones. We didn't have any plans last night except watch some movies by the fire (AKA portable butane heater) and watch the fireworks from our roof deck.

    Happy New Year!

  9. I like that you are continuing with your previous goals, and not just throwing them out the window. That's what I'm doing too. I didn't complete all of my 2010 goals, but I am still going to work on them. Like you I would like to work on balancing my real life with my blog life. I have started blogging less (2-3 times a week) and I think it's working out well for me.
I hope you had a great new year's eve!!
BTW, your older son looks so much like you! It's crazy. But of course, it's a good thing :)

  10. All good goals. Juicing 4 times a week is a lot though! You'd be one healthy mama. Love the hiking goal. Will you be continuing this one? Happy New Years!

  11. Good luck with your goals for 2011. I wish I could get into juicing but most of the time, I only have 3 drinks: water, coffee, Gatorade. My horizons really should be expanded.

Highlight of 2010: Running my first marathon and qualifying for Boston.

  12. Happy Happy New Year!! Such a beautiful family!

  13. The toddler sure has grown up a lot in a year!!
