Orange Coat

It’s been raining a lot in the San Francisco Bay Area, which is a good thing as we are in a severe drought. Last Thursday, the rain took a short break, and it was not too cold (it got really cold on Friday by Bay Area standards, and there was frost everywhere in the morning, something we are not used to…). Andy and I were lucky to be able to sneak out on Thursday for a quick lunch.

I wore my hand-me-down orange coat, a black and white dress, and leggings. I’ve owned the coat for several years now, and it has been much loved by its previous owner. I always like adding a pop of color to my outfit in the middle in winter. The coat also looks great with white pants, and I think I’ll wear it with my white pants soon.

We walked around a bit after lunch and came across this fun artwork. Naturally we had to take a photo...

Questions: Do you have a colorful statement coat? If so, what color is it? Do you have any hand-me-down clothes that you love?

  2. Does ,,hand me down,, mean it's second hand? I love the color, well I mean on you. I bought an orange top last summer , my first orange top. But it is a warm color and very cheerfull.

  3. I'm a huge fan of a statement coat! In fact, I have so many that my husband gives me the eye roll if I look at any others!!
I think the detail that I especially love about your coat is that shawl collar! For some reason, I am always attracted to that!! And it looks fabulous on you, of course, Andrea!!

  6. I love your coat! The unusual collar detail around the shoulder is amazing. I thought it would have a hood in the back, but the integrated 'stole' is such a nice effect! Really gorgeous, Andrea. I wish my sister would give me lovely coats like that :-) xx

  8. Hurrah for your orange coat Andrea! I too have an orange coat which is a brilliant pop of colour when you need a lift. I love to add cobalt blue to my orange - it's a real zingy combination.

  11. Glad to hear CA is finally going to get some rain! Your coat looks chic and cosy. No hand me down's yet. But I got a friend and I hope she is going to get tired of her pink leather one sooner than later ;-) Have a great week! xo Sabina

    1. Yes, we are very thankful for the rain, but unfortunately the storm on the weekend was a bit too much in several areas, and there have been mud slides and flooding... Unfortunately, that's likely to happen after a severe drought...

Your friend's pink leather coat sounds fantastic. Hope she'll get tired of it very soon... ;-)

  18. Andrea I love that! It's just what you need in the dreary winter weather. Of course since you live in California you hardly get any of that. I don't have any fancy colors for outerwear. I have a fleece burgundy jacket which I am wearing out because it's so cozy.

    1. Thanks, Mary! Thankfully, we have been getting a lot of rain (too much in some areas as there was unfortunately quite a bit of flooding and some mud slides) and there is more coming, so we do have some gloomy weather this year...

  20. Andrea, I absolutely love the color and the cut of that coat. A coat as a statement piece is one of my favorite fashion ideas. My favorite coat is a fuschia three-quarter-length wool coat, it keeps me warm and it's stylish at the same time. Huge bonus, my husband has no problem picking me out of a crowd!
