Bright Red Pants

Last week I wrote a post about my bright blue pants. As I mentioned in that post, at the time I bought the blue corduroy pants, I also bought a pair of bright red corduroy pants. I hadn’t worn either pair in over a year, but once I discovered them again, I wore both pairs within a week.

It's amazing to me that I can forget about an item of clothing for a year or longer and not miss it, and once I "find" it again, I can't stop wearing it. I know many use the "have-not-worn-it-in-a-year" test to decide whether to let go of items in their closet, but that test doesn't really work all that well for me as I often fall in love with a rediscovered item all over again, even if I haven't worn it in a couple of years...

I decided to wear the red pants with a grey cardigan and a black tee instead of an all black top to have a little less of a contrast, and I like the outcome. And I'm already thinking about what else to wear the pants with...

Bright Red Pants 1

Here are some red corduroy pants that I wouldn’t mind owning. * In fact, I'm starting to think I may need some darker/more muted red pants in addition to the ones I own:

Questions: What is the color of the last pair of pants you wore? Do you ever fall in love with long forgotten items in your closet all over again?

  1. Great look Andrea, the necklace is also very pretty! I have a skirt that Inown for six years now or seven, that s long for me. And I love the skirt but hardly ever wear and when I do I think:what a fabulous skirt! Haha. Happy Sunday!

  4. I agree with the thought of falling in love with older items from my closet a lot!!
Sometimes I think it has to do with variety. I seem to get tired of wearing the same things and gravitate towards the items that had been forgotten in my wardrobe!!
These red jeans are fabulous Andrea!! I have a pair and love mine too (although I haven't worn them in awhile, so thanks for the reminder!!)

  5. I'm always doing this Andrea. It's great to rediscover something long forgotten, and then have fun playing around trying to find the best outfit. Red really suits you (in fact most colours do) but it's an awkward one for me. I only have one red item in my wardrobe, a red skirt and can't bring myself to wear it as it doesn't feel like me at all. Pink yes, red maybe no.
I tried to comment on a post earlier today and it just disappeared when I posted it. I just wanted to say how much I loved your skinny black leather look leggings with those pointy boots - that's my idea of heaven. Loved it, all of it x

And sorry about the commenting troubles! I like the leggings with the pointy boots, too. Sadly, the pointy boots will soon have to be retired...

  6. Love the red! Sounds like both pairs will be fun this fall. Cords are the best.

  21. I so agree with you about the "not-have-worn-in-a-year" rule. I use to practice that rule, but then after regretting giving away so many great clothes, I have since scrapped it. I think retailers made up that rule to get us to buy new clothes every year. :) I have a huge house with plenty of closet space, so unless I really don't like an item anymore, i just move it to another closet if I find I'm unsure about it. As for red pants, I use to own two. One pair shrunk in the dryer so I gave it to my daughter, and the other pair currently doesn't fit anymore...I'm hoping to rectify that! Love your red pants!

    1. Yes, the "not-have-worn-in-a-year" rule may have very well been invented by retailers! ;-) Unfortunately, I have very little closet space, but I am using storage bins in the garage... :-)

  22. Probably the #1 reason I hang on to some items longer than I should is because I very often may even skip an entire season of wearing something I once loved but then find it again in another season and style it an entirely different way! I am pretty sure my mustard skinnines are the last pair of colored pants I've worn.

  32. I always look forward to seeing your ideas on fashion. You wear clothes so well. These pants look fantastic on you. I need to work more on adding color into my wardrobe. Looking through the pants that are similar to the ones you're wearing I find that I really like the pants from Loft and the ones from Farfetch, I like the shape and the flared, or trouser cut, of these pants. And since I love texture I know that I would love the material.
