We Are Back

The toddler and I are back from our trip visiting my family. We are very grateful for the time we got to spend with everyone, especially my dad. But we also missed hubby terribly.

While coming home was bittersweet, it is nice to get back into a routine. Before leaving, I had made plans to continue a somewhat structured exercise program while being gone. I was going to do body-weight exercises such as push ups, squats, and lunges. I also downloaded several yoga, Pilates, and whole body workouts from Exercise T.V. In addition, I knew I would be walking a lot. It sounded like a good plan. Unfortunately, working out just didn’t work out at all. I walked between 3 and 5 miles daily, but that was my only form of exercise, and I’m totally fine with that. But it’ll be nice to do some “real” workouts again. I still have some Groupons for exercise classes (one for a barre-type workout and one for suspension training), and I can’t wait to give them a try.

I also ate a few too many comfort foods while I was gone. And I indulged in some good wine and/or beer almost daily. Plus, it was the start of “ice cream season.” Smile I’m glad I allowed myself all the treats, but now it’s time to “clean” things up a bit. I’m really looking forward to all the spring produce, juicing, and working in my little garden.

I didn’t have a chance to spend a lot of time online while I was gone, so I’m also looking forward to catching up once I have settled in a bit.

  3. I'm glad you had a fun time with your family! As much as I hate getting out of my every day eating routine, it's nice to be away from my day to day work routine! I am going to hawaii in 10 days and I can't wait! Much needed break!

    It is always hard to exercise when on vacation. The worst thing is when I pack everything and don't end up using it. My friend wants to run when on our cruise so I know my stuff won't go to waste.

  5. What a great visit! Suspension training?! I'm excited to hear about this! And 3-5 miles per DAY is GREAT! Good for you for getting this in!

    I'm looking forward to a few upcoming beach trips - can't wait to relax and chill with my besties!

    I'm so glad you're back!! :) And I'm glad you had a good trip, it was awesome that you got your husband to guest post while you were gone, I think we all really enjoyed his perspective!

    I think it's cool that you took it easy on your trip, sometimes it's really nice to take a break from your routine and come back refreshed and energized!

    I am definitely looking forward to spring/summer and warm weather.

  11. It's always wonderful to see family. I'm glad you had such a great time visiting yours. And don't poo-poo the miles-long walks. Many a study have shown how great walks are for keeping off the pounds, clearing one's head and staying fit without jarring the joints. ;)
