Putting a Little Spring into our Lives

I know I shouldn’t complain about “winter” since I live in California. But we have been getting a lot of rain, and it’s been quite cold (well, at least I consider it cold!). So I decided to put a little spring into our lives.

First, I picked up some “springy” napkins at IKEA:

Second, they had some indoor herbs at the checkout stand at IKEA, and I picked up some chives, basil, and parsley. I usually buy seeds and plants at a local nursery so that I know where the seeds are coming from, but I couldn’t resist when I saw these herbs… They are supposed to be ready in 10 – 12 weeks; we’ll see how it goes.

Questions: Are you trying to put some spring into your life? If so, how? Or are you enjoying winter? Why don’t you share some of your winter fun!
Be well,
Andrea

  1. I LOVE THIS.

gosh I haven't been to an Ikea in a while. Love that place!

I just try and make sure I get outside and soak up some sun (cold or not) anytime it's out.

I am getting cabin fever pretty bad

  3. I love the colors and the idea of growing the herbs! I am still into winter so not fighting for Spring yet...but the middle of February and all bets are off! I will be looking for asparagus, spring peas, baby potatoes!

  4. I too am in Northern CA and it is another cloudy dreary day! I know we don't have to scoop snow but I can only handle so many dark days!

We turn on a lot of lights, open all the blinds, and play some cheery music.

I think the colorful napkins is a great idea and I love the little pots of herbs.

  5. I'm in CA too and I've totally been complaining but at the same time soaking up this dreary weather b/c it's so rare. (I think it's more rare down here but I could be wrong.)

  6. Great idea to bring some Spring in your house.

I don't mind Winter but the snow we had in December made me a grumpy old woman because I don't like snow. Now it's all gone and it's raining but I prefer rain over snow so I'm not complaining :)

  7. Although we are having some rain, and the wind makes it chilly sometimes, I can't complain because our weather is 50s and 60s around here so it feels like spring. The gulf streams and stuff keep us a little warmer than expected for being in line with NYC/Boston.

  8. I was just talking with my coworkers about how my herbs hit the dust and I should start growing herbs again. Wish we had an IKEA cause it looks like you got a great selection.

  9. Oh, I'll have to find those herbs - a great way to get a jump start.

I am so over the cold. This morning I got up it was 9 degrees but the windchill made it feel like -2. I'd take your winter any day! :D

    Have a great weekend Andrea!

  12. Those herb pots are so cute! I'm going to keep an eye out for them when I'm at Ikea today. It's pretty rainy here in Washington too but I guess I'm just used to it :)

  14. My winter has been cold as in -7 mid day. However it's only that cold because there is no cloud cover and it's bright and sunny. So i'm not complaining I'm just opening windows, going for drives in a heated car and enjoying the sunshine. I love the spring idea. I've been decorating for valentines, but i love the spring idea, and i love IKEA in general so a trip to their store would be fun.

  15. I'm over winter!!! Ohio does not clear the roads and it's dangerous! I want to walk the dog without bundling up and getting my feet all cold and wet. Why don't people shovel or snow blow!? Gr! :) I am using my crock pot plenty...but that's about it. Bring on the summer!! I will be anxious for an update on the herbs -- I cannot grow herbs indoors for the life of me. Outdoors either, but that's a whole other sob story :)

I hope you're having a fabulous weekend, Andrea!!
