Sentence a Day: July 2018

Sunday, July 1, 2018
We spent a low-key day at home.


Monday, July 2, 2018
I didn't feel well all day and spent the day at home while Andy took his mom to the DMV to renew her license, then out to lunch, to the bank and to run various errands.


Tuesday, July 3, 2018
The older kid got married in San Francisco today; in the evening we celebrated with some of his friends at Il Fornaio in Palo Alto.



Wednesday, July 4, 2018
I started the day with a barre class and then spent the rest of the day getting ready for our trip to Lake Tahoe; the kid was happy because we got sandwiches at Ike's (I got the gluten-free bread, and, unfortunately, it's not very good).


Thursday, July 5, 2018
We drove up to Tahoe and felt in vacation mode right away.



Friday, July 6, 2018
I started the day with an online yoga class, and then we went on a beautiful hike; in the afternoon we hung out at the pool.



Saturday, July 7, 2018
We drove to Virginia City, the famous silver mining town; it was fun exploring the town and the Fourth Ward School House Museum; while in Virginia City we stumbled upon the best Mexican food at Cafe Del Sol.





Sunday, July 8, 2018
We went to the pool early (we were the first ones there) and then went out to lunch at Sprouts Natural Foods Cafe; afterwards, Andy tried some beers at South Lake Brewing, and in the evening we went to the Arcade with the kid.




Monday, July 9, 2018
We walked to Sprouts and had breakfast and then spent several hours at the pool.



Tuesday, July 10, 2018
We drove back home but stopped in Roseville to briefly meet up with my friend Lara.





Wednesday, July 11, 2018
I got caught up from the trip, did some work, and in the evening we went to a friend's birthday celebration. 

Thursday, July 12, 2018
We went on a nice hike at Rancho San Antonio.

Friday, July 13, 2018
The kid had piano practice in the morning, and the older kid and his wife (still getting used to that!) came over for dinner.

Saturday, July 14, 2018
We met some friends for a pizza lunch at State of Mind in Los Altos (the burrata salad was to die for!) and then explored the Arts and Wine Festival there.




Sunday, July 15, 2018
We went on a nice, challenging hike at Wunderlich Park.

Monday, July 16, 2018
We spent a couple hours at Gilroy Gardens and then did a bit of wine tasting at Kirigin Cellars.




Tuesday, July 17, 2018
The kid had some of his friends from school over in the morning and then we went to the pool; I also got some work done for my fall classes and got ready for the kid's and my trip to Germany.





Wednesday, July 18, 2018
We escaped the hot weather and headed to the beach for a few hours, where it was overcast and cool.



Thursday, July 19, 2018
We had some friends over for some cider tasting.

Friday, July 20, 2018
I met up with Dawn from Fashion Should Be Fun and Lynn at Santana Row.


Saturday, July 21, 2018
We spent the day walking/running at the track, ran errands, and I finished packing for our Germany trip (I tried on several outfits to make sure everything worked the way I pictured it in my head).



Sunday, July 22, 2018
I started the day with a barre class, we went on a 3-mile walk and played at the park, went out to lunch, and then we headed to the airport.


Monday, July 23, 2018
After several delays, we arrived in Germany; the kid enjoyed his first Schnitzel upon arrival.




Tuesday, July 24, 2018
After a jet lagged night, we hung out at my parents' house and went for a walk by the river.





Wednesday, July 25, 2018
We went downtown and had lunch and did a little sight seeing in very hot and humid weather.



Thursday, July 26, 2018
We took the train to Munich and met up with good friends.






Friday, July 27, 2018
My mom and I went downtown to do a little shopping, and we got some coffee and some drinks in a Cafe.




Saturday, July 28, 2018
We tried to stay cool and got some ice cream.



Sunday, July 29, 2018
We barbecued.



Monday, July 30, 2018
We took the train to Bad Kissingen (a spa town), where my dad had a doctor's appointment and got some treatments.








Tuesday, July 31, 2018
We took yet another train to visit my aunt in Northern Germany; in the evening we went to the lake and got some ice cream.

  3. Geez....you've been everywhere this July!! Congrats to you older son on his marriage. And what a nice, relaxing vacation in Lake Tahoe. Of course Germany, is not so much a vacation, but it's wonderful you get to see your parents!

  7. Had just wondered if you had a trip to Germany in the works. And here you are! Your parents look well. So glad you are able to spend more time with them and 'the kid' was able to join you.

    Congratulations on your older son's marriage. They are a lovely couple. Wishing them a lifetime of happiness.

    You look fit and trim. Now that I have tried barre, I am even more impressed with your dedication to it. I just couldn't afford to do that and pay for the gym, too. And it is TOUGH!!
