Mommy, Can You Make Some Juice?

For the past week or so, the toddler has been asking me this question over and over and over (two year olds have a tendency to do and say things (good and bad) over and over and over). He kept walking into the kitchen and pointing to the juicer and then listed all the things he wanted me to juice. To be honest, I haven’t juiced in a while; somehow I just didn’t plan well enough and the mood just wasn’t there (mainly the mood to clean the juicer afterward…). But today was finally the day for some green juice.

April Juice 01

Here is what I juiced:
  • Romaine lettuce
  • Spinach
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 2 small apples
  • 2 small lemons
Since I use organic produce to juice, I don’t peel it, which is nice…

April Juice 02

I realized how much I had missed my green juice.

April Juice 04

Questions: Do you like vegetable juice? If so, what's your favorite combination? Any good April fool's jokes? And no, the green juice is no April fools joke, I really did make it… :-)

Be well,
Andrea

  2. I love juicing but cleaning the thing is a big PIA so I kind of got out of the habit.

    My fav combo is:

    romaine
    cuke
    parsley
    beet
    carrot
    green apple

  3. Honestly I'm not crazy about veggie juice. Last weekend my husband made me some with carrots, celery, beets, and apples. Even those is was sweeter than most I still sort of felt like I was choking it down. :-)

I'm like Christie cleaning the juicer is a bit of a pain.

I know I've said this before but your pictures are so lovely and peaceful.

  4. Yum! I love the Green Machine by Naked Juice. It even has garlic in it, which I could not taste.

I love your new background by the way. :)

  5. I have to admit to not being a fan of any juice, veggie or otherwise.

  6. We usually do green smoothies around here, but occasionally we do make juice. Usually carrot and apple. I really like celery and apple too.
    Blessings!

  7. I used to make almost the exact same blend when I juiced! The lemons are key. Without the lemons, I can't handle that "green" taste. I don't have my juicer anymore (UK plug, had to give it away), and I do miss a fresh juice occasionally, but not enough to buy a replacement juicer. Not yet, anyway ;)

  8. The only veggie juice I ever drank was some V8. Sad to say but it's true.

I tell you an April Fool's joke, but I'm usually at the recieving end of those kinds of things. hehehe..

  9. I'm slightly intimidated by veggie juice - but since I became a blogger thats all I've seen are "green monsters" and all these healthy juices. I will have to try. Thanks for sharing your recipe and its awesome that your child is asking for a healthy juice!!

  12. That is so cool that your toddler loves that green veggie juice. Maybe I should try that with my niece. The only green thing she'll eat is pesto!

  14. Andrea this layout (i say this every time)just beats the heck outta your old one!

thx for the good shape already props you gave me :) i am excited to see what all happens for me!

juicing. I suck at it b/c i cannot spend 10 mins washing, 10 mins actually juicing and 10-15 mis cleaning up!!! which seems to go on and on and on for me...so i never do it. I admit it.

  15. Nice color. I actually do not like veggie juice, but mainy becaue of the consistency.

As for jokes, my grandpa started the day by ordering 2 margaritas and a steak and lobster at 9:30 this morning and the serveer just stared at him until he was like "April Fool's". Then he called my aunt and told her I ate a steak for breakfast.

  16. I don't juice. I guess I would if I had a juicer, but don't. I haven't even made a smoothie in ages! Summer is comming so I"ll be craving smoothies more on hot days.

  17. I always fail at good APril Fool's jokes. I try to come up with good ones, but inevitably they are not good. Nick is hard to fool.

I love it that the toddler was begging for juice! That is so fantastic. I hope my kids beg for healthy food. If they are anything like Nick, they will. Nick can't WAIT to get a juicer! He actually talks about it often. He lists all the foods he wants to juice. The only thing he needs to add are veggies. He thinks you can only juice fruit. MUAHAHA, wait until he finds out otherwise!!

  18. Yeah, when toddler started asking for things... their voice is just melting you away! hehe... My boy loves to ask whenever he wanted something! My brother gifts me a juicer last X'mas and it was great! Btw, I hate the cleaning too. haha...
Happy Easter Day to you & your family, Andrea. Have a great weekend.
    Cheers, Kristy

  22. You've obviously done something right if your 2 yo is asking for green juice! :) That's quite a bowl of produce you have there! I've never made juice, but I love putting raspberries, spinach, lemon, and banana into smoothies.
