Update and Happy Holidays

Sorry for being MIA for so long. I hadn’t planned on stopping blogging completely, but as life got crazier and crazier, I had no energy left for blogging. Thank you for checking in with me, and sorry it took so long to get back to you.

The last few months were way beyond my “regular busy and stressful,” and for the first time in many years I really struggled with making health a priority. I am now back to regular workouts and after just a few days of daily exercise, things got so much better – something I knew all along but sometimes you get to a place where it’s unbelievably hard to do your regular routine.

Through all the upheaval, we continued to have fun with the kid however, which made things so much better and which I am very thankful for.

Over the past few months, I’ve kept our food pretty healthy (no pictures though), but it was also pretty boring as I just relied on staples. I also realized once again that I am less mindful when I am stressed, which can lead to mindless eating.

Over the weekend, we were invited to a party, and I made tomato/mozzarella skewers. I don’t usually buy tomatoes in the winter, but I found some really tasty mini tomatoes and just couldn’t resist. It was nice to have a little reminder of summer on the table.

I hope things have been well with all of you, and I look forward to catching up on blogs. Blogging and blog reading has been a regular part of my life for four years, and it felt very strange to be completely removed from it.

Happy Holidays!

Be well,
Andrea

  2. Good to see you back again Andrea! Yes, stress for me often leads to mindless eating (and even a little stress can do that, it's crazy). The key is to learn how to deal with it, without food (or with HEALTHY food, like those yummy skewers!)
    Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Gina. It is interesting how even a little stress can affect eating and exercising, and extreme stress is a whole other story...

      Have a great week!

  3. Welcome back! I was just checking your blog yesterday to see if my google reader is missing your posts because it has been ages since you last posted.

Glad to know that everything is going well, just busy.

I miss summer tomatoes already, they are super delicious in summer and so boring in winter, But we can have more squash, right?

Really happy to see you back into the blog world.

  4. It's so nice to hear from you, Andrea! I guessed you must have been super busy, and I know that blogging takes lower priority during that time (as it should!). I know what you mean about increased stress = increased mindless eating - I definitely do that, too! Like you, I also rely on stables during that time because it's just so much easier, and usually healthier, than reaching for something new. Your tomato skewers look delicious! I usually don't buy tomatoes in the middle of winter too, but I actually just bought a bunch last weekend in a sale and have been chowing down on tons of salad - yum!

    Have a great week, Andrea!

P.S. That upper right pic of the kid is just so precious! :)

    1. I didn't mean to completely disappear for so long. But I got to a place where I just couldn't do my "normal" stuff for a while...

Thanks for not forgetting about me! :)

  7. Hi Andrea! I was glad to hear from you. Sometimes, we just have to prioritize and cut a few unnecessary things out. There were a couple of months were I was too busy to be inspirational to anyone. I just had to get stuff done! And I resented blogging because it was one more thing on a very long list. I'm just glad you're okay, and the rest of your family too!

    :-) Marion

  10. Welcome back! sometimes life is too busy and blogging isn't a priority than. Nothing wrong with that. But I'm glad you are back.

  11. Hi Andrea - I'm so glad you're back. Like you, life has become very stressful these past few months due to work commitments, and the time it takes to blog becomes increasingly difficult to find. Not to mention exercising to keep the stress at bay. You're an inspiration for me in that you've proven that you can get back on track with your health and make it a priority once things settle down.
