We have also been enjoying more veggies & fruits and are all feeling better because of it.

I am also back to taking barre classes more regularly, and my low back feels a lot better. I took my first advanced class the other day and was SERIOUSLY sore (despite modifying some of the moves…).
Questions: What’s some of the summer fun you’ve been enjoying lately? I really enjoy all the early summer produce at the Farmers’ Market. Cherries are my favorite fruit, and we have been enjoying them a lot. I’ve also been buying different varieties of peaches and surprisingly really enjoy them. If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you’ll know that I’m not a “fruit person,” but I’ll have to admit that good, ripe in season fruit is delicious. In addition, I love making big bowls of wonderful salads with different types of lettuce, tomatoes, radishes, spring onions,… What’s your favorite exercise at the moment? I still love my hikes but as the temps are heating up, it’s essential to go early in the morning and that’s not always possible. I also enjoy taking more barre classes and love being strong enough to get deeper into all the exercises.
Be well,
Andrea
Glad to hear you've been getting some nice pool weather :-) i finally broke down and bought some cherries. They were delicious, but I had a hard time keeping them away from my daughter :-). I've also been enjoying berries, and nectarines which are one of my summer favorites! As for exercise, I've been mixing it up quite a bit with hikes/walks, weights, and my 1 day a week of running where I've been increasing my mileage ever so slowly each week, so, hopefully, I won't get any injuries. I also just got a new bike, and am excited to start riding again! Hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteI remember that your family loves fruit! :) Your exercise routine sounds great! Glad the 1 day a week running is working! Enjoy your new bike!
DeleteLove the photos- berry soft serve recipe please.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteBerry Soft Serve:
- 1.5 frozen bananas, sliced before freezing
- 1 cup frozen berries (I used strawberries, blueberries, & raspberries)- approximately
- 3/4 cup Greek yogurt - approximately
Process in food processor until smooth. Don't over-process.
About 3 servings
Wow, those are some seriously colourful dishes right there, and the weather looks so great, I'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteI know it's been raining where you are. Hope you'll have some summery weather soon!
DeleteI haven't been to a Farmer's Market yet...I need to go! I seem to be working on all the days when our local FM is open, bummer. I'll get there....
ReplyDeleteWe did get lots of cherries from our neighbors, and have been enjoying those. Also we've been eating lots of cool gelato with fresh blueberries, and of course getting out for bike rides and FAST walks. I love summer!
The gelato sounds good! And, yes, summer is great! :)
DeleteHi Andrea! Oh, I love Bing cherries!!!! Your food is so pretty up there! Husband and the kids went to Lake Michigan to the beach yesterday. I sunburn easily, so I stayed home.
ReplyDeleteStretching makes *so* much difference--if a person does it correctly. You took a class, so you know proper form. (It's amazing how terrible some people's stretching form is.) I'm glad your back feels better. :D
:-) Marion
Yes, stretching and spinal exercises make a huge difference. And I agree with you, it has to be done correctly. That's why I always suggest people take a class if they are interested in barre workouts rather than start with a DVD. Correction by an instructor is key at the beginning in my opinion.
DeleteI have also been taking advantage of the seasonal fruits and veggies. The berry treat does look great.
ReplyDeleteI have been walking or walking/jogging for four miles about 4-5 times per week. My husband bought me a bike for my birthday and I have been riding it a few times a week 3-4 miles. My sister has a pool and we plan on jumping in soon! It has really been a mild June for us and the water was too cold yesterday. I hung out in the hot tub.
Summer makes eating right and exercising a lot easier, doesn't it?
DeleteHope you enjoyed the hot tub! :)
What delicious summer food!
ReplyDeleteI have not yet enjoyed summer fun yet, it's been raining too much over here :(
Hope you'll get nicer weather soon!
DeleteThe pool is our favorite summer fun. All of the food looks amazing! I have a sudden craving for salmon with dill.
ReplyDeleteYes, salmon with dill is very nice. I had taken a little break from fish for a few weeks (somehow it just didn't appeal to me at all), and I now really enjoy it again.
DeleteNice pictures Andrea...and the food look awesome...loaded of vegetables and fruits as you mention. And you soft serve looks perfect for the hot weather.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week ahead :)
Yes, we love all kinds of variations of banana soft sever in the summer.
DeleteHope you'll have a great week, too!
What a coincidence! I was just looking for a recipe to use up some orecchiette pasta. That looks delish.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteI am going to my first farmers market on Wednesday in Lincoln Park in Chicago - although there won't be much produce yet, it will still be fun - plus I am meeting up with Hannah!!
ReplyDeleteYeah for meeting up with Hannah!!!
DeleteLooks like a fun weekend! I love cherries too, especially the Rainers. Last summer I discovered Saturn (flat) peaches. They were only in season for a couple of weeks but I could not get enough they were so good!
ReplyDeleteWe hope to have lots of pool fun and I'm a regular hiker b/c of the dog.
I had a few Saturn peaches last year, and they were very good. I'll have to look for them again!
DeleteThe temps have finally warmed up looks like lots of fun at the pool! The cherries have been so good lately and I have been eating a lot of them. The little salad tomatoes have been so sweet I have been eating them like grapes.
ReplyDeleteWalking and hiking are my first choice for exercise.. I have also been enjoying resistance training with hand weights. Feeling strong and fit is a great feeling!
Yes, we've had some great, small tomatoes, too. Can't wait for our own to ripen.
DeleteYou've been doing a great job with the resistance training!
I'm loving summer fruits too and I'm also not a fruit person I. general, but I could do exception for summer fruits, specially peaches and watermelon. love them both!
ReplyDeleteI haven't gone tomfarmers market yet this year, need to exp,ore the new neighbor to find one,
no special summer activity yet, it has been very warm last weekend and imprefered to stay at home,
with a friend we are thinking about going to beach, she mentioned north Carolina. is that where you are? do u recommend the beach there?
Yes, I guess I'm a fruit person in the summer, too! :)
DeleteWe are in California. Hope you'll find a nice beach in your area!
There is not summer yet but I do enjoy the fresh produce from farmer's market.I love to eat what ever is in the season. The berry dessert looks my favorite here.
ReplyDeleteYes, in-season, local produce is the best. The berry dessert is a favorite in our house.
DeleteIm going BROKE on cherries :-) but it is sooo worth it...
ReplyDeleteYes, expensive but worth it! :)
DeleteI enjoy walking very early in the morning during the summers because once the sun comes up the temperatures are crazy! I love that first picture with the four pictures together. I might have to steal that idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteLove the spread! YUM!
ReplyDeleteTomato, mozzarella, and basil is one of my summer favs!! So light and refreshing!
I haven't enjoyed it yet but I love the combo of watermelon and feta! :)
I've never had watermelon & feta! Have to try it soon!
DeleteHi Andrea. LOVE the pool shots. We haven't got summer-like temps or sunshine here yet, but I'm already enjoying farmers markets and SOME local produce. Glad you are doing well.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Roz!
DeleteI'm obsessed with summer food! I've always wanted to try a barre class...
ReplyDeleteYes, summer food is the best! Fresh, delicious, & easy... :)
DeleteIt is SO hot here. Working out has been...miserable. But afterwards, I feel AMAZING! As always, running is a favorite. But I'm into hiking lately. I've been twice in the past week or 2, and I hope to continue! Enjoy summer, Andrea...sure looks like you are :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your hikes! And good luck with everything in the new place!
DeleteI hardly ate fruits during our vacation. But I do love summer fruits, going to buy some this weekend.
ReplyDeleteAlso I haven't exercised when I was in Italy but we walked a lot, mostly uphill. Picking up my exercise tomorrow.
The pics from your vacation on FB look amazing! And I think lots of walking on vacation is really all you need... Enjoy your workout!
