Celebrating Life & Being Thankful

A few weeks ago, hubby and I went out to dinner to celebrate my birthday. I feel so lucky; it seems like we have had one date after another in the last few weeks... Considering that up until last month, we hadn't gone out by ourselves without the toddler, that's pretty amazing...

The food was very good, but what was even better was the company! Hubby and I had a chance to talk, plan, and reflect on life and how blessed we are. We remind each other of the importance of being thankful for what we have daily, but it was nice to have a bit more time to reflect together... But I'm sure you want to see the food! :o) So here we go:

We each got a glass of Hefeweizen - the perfect, crisp summer beer
There was also some bread and butter

I decided to order from the "Small Plates" section of the menu.

I got the Summer Veggie Plate: Hummus, Chef's Selection of Organic Vegetables, & Sumac Grilled Bread
My second dish was Lil 'Wellingtons:' Puff Pastry, Braised Short Ribs, Mushrooms, Veal Jus, Shaved Radishes
Hubby got the fish special: Crusted halibut with gnocchi, & grilled vegetables
For dessert we split a lemon bread pudding with lemon sorbet.
The dinner was a nice way to celebrate a special occasion. But I think what's more important is to celebrate the amazing gift of life every day and to be mindful and appreciative of the "little things." I am so thankful for my family and friends; spending time with them doing "nothing" is more precious than any fancy dinner...

Question: What are you thankful for today?

Be well,
Andrea
