Why I Love My Walks

These days, my favorite kind of physical activity is walking. I simply enjoy walking around my neighborhood. Here is why:
  1. I can let my mind wander while walking.
  2. I love to see everyone's flowers, manicured lawns and interesting ornaments.
  3. I don't have to worry about the toddler; I put him in his jogging stroller and he is happy.
  4. I can convince hubby to come with me and we get our version of a date.
  5. My weak ankle thanks me for not putting it through a high intensity workout.
  6. When the weather is nice, being outside really makes me happy.
  7. When it's cold outside, nothing feels better than finishing the walk and getting back inside and warming up. It doesn't get that cold where we live, so "cold" is relative....
  8. Walking is good for the environment. If I forget something at the store, I walk there. It's a 40 minute walk one way. It's good for the environment as well as my body and mind.
  9. A brisk walk is a great workout. All that walking really adds up!
  10. Back to number one: Nothing clears my mind better than a walk!
Do you enjoy walking? Why, or why not?

Be well,

  1. I love walking! I always wished I lived in a little town where you could walk everywhere to get everything you needed!

Now, that I've progressed into running, I love that as well. Not as "relaxing" as a walk because I'm constantly trying to push myself to get through it, but it is invigorating when I'm done!

If I don't get my morning walk in, I'm one cranky lady. My walks is my "ME" time in which I reflect upon a lot of things, get my blood pumped up, enjoy the weather (or not, doesn't matter but if the weather is good then BONUS!), and yup, clear my head, too!

  3. I love nature walks. Other walks...not so much unless I'm with someone. I get bored and impatient. But if I'm in the mountains, or any "nature-y" area, I absolutely love it and could walk all day long!

I try to walk every day for at least 30 minutes. It makes me feel so good, and I just feel different whenever I have to skip a day.
