Summer Bucket List 2017 Update

A month ago, I posted my summer bucket list along with a group of other bloggers, all organized by Leslie from Once Upon a Time Happily Every After. Today, some of us are posting an update. See below for the linked-up posts.

I think I’m doing pretty well with my summer bucket list, but I’m struggling a bit with some of the weekly items. Namely, I’m not swimming as much as I wanted to, haven’t been to the Farmers’ Market in weeks, and am seriously lacking in taking barre and/or yoga classes.

Here is my summer bucket list; I have written updates next to each item.

2017 Summer Bucket List

1. Make at least five day trips to the beach. - We are a bit slow on this one, but we spent a week at the beach, so I think that sort of counts.
2. Read three fun books.- Done.
3. Go to the farmers' market at least once a week. - I don’t know why this is so hard for me right now, but I’ve not been going the last few weeks. One of the reasons was our trip to the beach, but it surely doesn't explain it all. I have been harvesting plenty of my own tomatoes, cucumbers and fresh herbs however.
4. Go on one hike per week. - We have been going on at least one hike a week, usually two or three.
5. Take two barre and/or yoga classes per week. - Another fail. I’ll really have to step up my yoga & barre game.
6. Sleep in at least once per week. - Hasn’t happened once! Not even on vacation… There is still so much to catch up on and my mind is still kind of racing I think... I feel like I’ll finally be able to start to unwind right when the fall quarter starts, which will be too late...
7. Barbecue at least once per week. - Yup. More than that.
8. Spend time in the patio every day. - Not quite every day, but much more than in the past.
9. Swim at least four times per week. - No. Not quite. Have to step it up.
10. Make good use of our Great America and Monterey Bay Aquarium season passes. - We went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium once, and, I believe, four times to Great America. I think that's a success.

Question: What's on your summer bucket list? Is there anything you want to do before the summer is over?

Be well,

Andrea

  1. I haven't been doing this challenge but two of my "wish list" items this summer are similar to yours. I wanted to go swimming more often, and discover new pools, and so far I have been to one, an outdoor pool at Hyde Park in London. I also want to find a barre class and start going! I have found two, but have yet to sign up. Have a lovely weekend Andrea.

    1. The outdoor pool in Hyde Park sounds nice!

Writing this update on Thursday actually made me take a 6 a.m. barre class on Friday! And I'm already signed up for a class on Sunday! Now I just have to keep it up...

    1. It's easy to get distracted by other things. But, hopefully, they are fun!

  4. You've made great progress, Andrea. Hiking, going to the beach, reading, BBQs, are great summer activities. Once you get back to yoga, barre, and swimming, I think they'll help you sleep better.

    1. Yes! I know yoga, barre and swimming will help with sleep! I took a class on Friday morning and felt great (but sore) afterward. I'm also signed up for a class tomorrow!

  5. I have been struggling with going to our Farmer's Market as well. You have accomplished quite a few of the items in your list. Great work.

    1. Yes! And summer is really the time I should go to the farmers market the most...

  7. Ditto what our friend Jodie says above, no fails here!! Just postponed, stay tuned, pending, etc. and then there's always next season!

I haven't slept in one single time either. But I have hopes for next week. If you are like me, you get adjusted to getting up earlier and it is hard to break old habits. And PC gets up and I feel like a slug when he is getting ready for work and I am lounging!

    1. True! I'm just glad that I decided to do this update as it made me aware of what I just focus on!

Hope you'll get to sleep in this coming week!

  10. The great thing about bucket lists is that even if you don't accomplish 100 percent of the list, you do more than you would have otherwise, and you're more mindful of the things you do get done. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

    1. You are so right! And I really liked this check-in as it made me go back to barre classes and yoga... :-)

  11. Sounds like you are ticking off some from the list and really the only timeframe we put on is the one we impose ourselves. Mine is sometimes a WIP but the main thing is you are enjoying your summer.

  12. Good for you for having even made a Bucket List this summer (and sticking to some of the goals you've laid out)! I am a big fan of lists of any kind because without them, it's hard to accomplish much at all. I hope it's not too late to make my own this summer - I think that will be my goal for August - thanks for the inspiration :)
