Striped Dress with Striped Cardigan

I bought a striped dress 7+ years ago from Banana Republic and hadn’t worn it in about two years. To be honest, I don’t remember it being that short. In fact, I believe it shrunk quite a bit when I washed it last time - I actually may not have followed instructions...

I love the stripes and colors of the dress - black, white and tan are such a classic and nice combination. But I don’t like how short the dress is. Next time, I'll see if I like it better with tights or leggings (obviously when it is cooler in fall); otherwise it'll go into the donate bag...

I wore the dress on a warm day but added a striped cardigan so I wouldn’t be cold in air conditioned buildings.

I like these striped dresses very much.

Question: Did you recently discover any items in your closet that don't work anymore? Are you as much a fan of stripes as I am?

    1. I really love the colors of the dress. That's why I'm so sad that it's so short now...

  2. I love that you mixed your stripes, Andrea!!
I'm the worst at shrinking items. I'm way too lazy to not put things in the dryer, so I've become a pro at figuring out how to wear my "too short" things--ha ha!!
I'm actually planning a series on wearing a dress extender...have you tried one of those??
But my mom will wear a skirt under her dress like this, and you almost can't tell that they are separates!!
I love you haircut, BTW!!! Very stylish!

    1. I've never tried a dress extender. I'll have to look out for your series! You are always finding such creative solutions!

  3. I always felt weird with stripes that went around vs. vertically - I guess from my heavy days... it lingers with us...

All my clothes are old so they probably should not work but I wear them! :)

    1. Yes, horizontal stripes were a no-no for long (and we were constantly told they make us look heavier) that it can be strange to wear them...

  4. Love you in stripes and I love when I rediscover an item. Sometimes an older item just needs to be 'reworked" in a new what and voila! We have a new piece to wear!
Hope you had a great weekend!
