Visiting the Presidio in San Francisco
A few weekends ago we visited the Presidio in San Francisco to attend the Cider Summit. It was a relatively cool day, and I wore a graphic tee with a matching scarf; I bought the tee and the scarf in Germany last summer but had never worn them. I added my long black cardigan, comfortable jeans and flats as we were walking on grass (last year I wore sandals with a low heel, and they didn’t work out all too well on the grass, which is very uneven with many holes, etc.).When I bought the t-shirt and scarf, the sales associate wanted to sell me a matching grey cardigan. I ended up not buying it as it was quite pricy. But looking back, I realize that it was the perfect grey to go with the t-shirt and scarf. It also was great quality, and I know I would have worn it for many years. I hope I’ll find a similar one soon.
There are great views everywhere in the Presidio.

The building on the right in the background houses the Walt Disney Family Museum, which we visited later in the day.

I love all the pretty buildings and doors in the Presidio.

We had to get a shot with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background.

There are several cannons on display.

The lawn in the Presidio is a beautiful place for the Cider Summit.

Having some fun getting cider.

Visiting the Walt Disney Family Museum
This was the third year that we went to the Cider Summit in the Presidio, and every year we say we should really visit the Walt Disney Family Museum, which is right there. This year we decided to keep our visit to the Cider Summit short and headed to the museum after about an hour and a half.Andy had done some research online and was concerned that we didn’t have enough time to see everything. The online reviews that state that you can spend an entire day or more at the museum are correct. There is so much to see. However, a couple of hours were enough for us to get an overview, especially since the kid didn’t feel all that well toward the end of the day.
The museum is a true treasure-trove of all things Disney, from the very beginning to the present day. I would like to go back some day and do it all justice. We saw a lot but could have spent many more hours reading and looking at all the interesting exhibits. While younger children will enjoy the drawings and movies, older children who are interested in reading the many descriptions and details will probably get more out of visiting the museum.

The kid wasn’t feeling all that well at this point.
There is a nice view of the Golden Gate Bridge from inside the museum.

Questions: Did you ever decide not to buy something and then regret it? If so, what was it? What was the last museum that you visited?
Aww hope your son felt better quickly! :) While you might miss the perfect grey cardigan to go with the scarf and tee the black cardigan you are wearing works nicely I think!
ReplyDeleteThat would be a really fun museum to visit too!
Hope you are having a great weekend :)
Away From The Blue Blog
Thanks, Mica! The kid didn't feel very well for three days, but it wasn't too bad. Hope you had a great weekend!
DeleteI hear you, it seems like whenever I find something online that I pass up, I go back to get it and it's sold out. That scarf is absolutely lovely, you have the best scarf collection. I hope your son got to feeling better quickly, it sure looked like a lovely visit!
ReplyDeleteWell, I have a mild scarf obsession... ;-) But my excuse is that one new scarf can truly transform many outfits...
DeleteWhat a fun day! Cider & Disney = the perfect combination!
ReplyDeleteMary
Thanks, Mary!
DeleteWhat a fun trip---especially how you got your cider!! But bummer that your son wasn't feeling up to par.
ReplyDeleteI always figure if I don't buy something right away, then it wasn't meant to be. There are plenty more option out there!!! :)

Yes, you are right, but I feel the grey cardigan was meant to be, but I just didn't listen... ;-)
DeleteLooks like a great outing! I like you tee & scarf with the black cardigan.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julie!
DeleteThe Golden Gate Bridge is so beautiful - what a view. Looks like big fun, and I love your outfit too. xo

DeleteThe views are so pretty! I haven't been to museum in quite a while but the Disney Family Museum sounds like it'd be right up my alley! So cool!
ReplyDeleteBy Lauren M
Thanks, Lauren! The Walt Disney Family Museum is really very cool. I hope to go back some day to do it justice!
DeleteLooks like a great outing! I'm trying to think of times when I regretted saying no to something...and I can't, so I guess that means I say yes too often!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great day! Nothing wrong with saying "yes"... :-)
DeleteYou had to put a lot of effort to get some cider there😂😂😂😂 When we are in England we almost always drink cider there. Well I don t mean all day or every day, but just once in the time we are there!I love Chardonnay but cider is so very nice although I think it s a lot sweeeter. I hope the kid is better now.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was quite a bit of effort to get the cider! Actually, quite a few of the ciders at the festival were very dry ciders. Some of them even had hops added.
DeleteI loved the Presidio when we last visited. Your photos make me want to return.
ReplyDeleteI did have some regret about not buying a vintage dress at one of the vintage shows. I put up a photo of myself trying it on at the show all my readers wrote in telling that the dress needed to be mine and I'd made a big mistake. I was lucky enough to contact the seller the next day and go and pick it up. It has become one of my very favourite pieces.
bisous
Suzanne
The Presidio is for sure a great place.
DeleteGlad you got the dress after all!
What would we do without our long cardigans? An invaluable piece of kit. This looks like a fun day, I've done the regretful thing many a time. Not buying when I should have! Pah!

Long cardigans are great for sure! Now I just need the "perfect" grey one... :-)
DeleteI have a long grey cardigan and wear it all the time. Good luck on your search for the right one! That scarf is so pretty with this!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Laura!
DeleteCostume jewelry during travels at times . . . sometimes I'll kick myself afterwards in that it's unlikely we'll ever get back to wherever I saw it to buy it.
ReplyDeleteWe visited the Broad Museum in Los Angeles yesterday, which was absolutely wonderful. Admission is free, though timed tickets need to be made online in advance to avoid waiting in a long line, and we enjoyed a truly wonderful museum art tour led by a recent art history graduate during our visit. Nicely, while visiting and chatting with other art lovers we learned about two new private museum collections in Los Angeles that we added to our list to visit.
Yes, I have regretted not buying things while on vacation... I love buying a piece of jewelry or a scarf; small and such nice memories attached...
DeleteI'll have to keep the Broad Museum in mind when we are in LA next!
Oh yes, I regretted it many times! But of course I can't buy everything I like!! ( It would mean a really huge quantity of stuff of any kind)
ReplyDeleteI am sure that the visit to the museum was very interesting. It is something that I would Love! Walt Disney's cartoons are part of my childhood memories...
True. We can't buy everything... :-)
DeleteThe museum is truly great! If you watched a lot of Disney cartoons, I'm sure you would have the best time...
One of my favorite parts of the country! Looks like you had a wonderful time, just hope your son felt better quickly.
ReplyDeleteAs for taking a pass on buying something only to regret it later, absolutely, but an even bigger regret of mine is getting rid of certain items in my closet that I should have held onto.
Love your classic look!

Thanks, Mary! The kid recovered relatively quickly.
DeleteAnd, yes, I have given quite a few things away that I later regretted...
That does indeed look like a fun way to get cider and I love how you got a photo with the Golden Gate bridge in the view!

ReplyDeleteIt was. Thanks, Amy!
DeleteIt has been years since I went to a museum. The last one I visited was the History Museum in Raleigh. I enjoyed that trip but I would love to go to a museum like that!
ReplyDeleteI realized that we don't go to enough museums... The Walt Disney Museum is definitely a fun...
DeleteI would love to visit the Disney museum one day. What a fun way to get cider too! Sounds like a fun day! I hope you son was feeling better quickly!

Thanks, Mel! It's a very fun museum!
DeleteAndrea I always feel like that when I leave Ikea. I wish I had gotten more stuff. As for the museum it would have to be the MET in New York. My all time favorite.
ReplyDeleteYes, IKEA has SOOO many fun items! Can you believe that I've never been to NYC? I'll have to change that...
