Plaid Poncho

Last year I bought a reversible plaid poncho from Jacket Society, and I wore it quite a few times last year, at the beginning of this year as well as in the last few weeks.

Last time I wore the poncho, I did a bit of pattern mixing with my animal print jeans.

Here are some ponchos, wraps and capes that recently caught my eye*:

Question: Do you like wearing ponchos, capes and wraps? I have come to love wearing wraps and capes, and I think they also make great gifts, especially neutral colored ones that go with “everything.” The fact that many ponchos, capes and wraps are one size can also make giving them as gifts easier than other items of clothing.

  1. Ah with a nice warm Hood! Very nice! I am always, well a lot of times, cold. I have a poncho but mostly I need a warmer coat, it s only in thelate Summer that I use the poncho and then it looks stupid because it s woolen one.

    1. Yes, I can see that ponchos, etc. won't work very well in very cold climates (but they may work over certain coats; I have a grey coat that is not very warm, and I've worn the poncho on top of it, and liked the look and added warmth).

Wraps, etc. are actually perfect for our weather as it's often quite mild in winter. But we are expected to get some freezing temperatures next week, and I'll get out my winter coats for sure!

  5. I remember this poncho from last year, it is so lovely and such a classic piece. Yes, I love wraps, but unfortunately in my climate we have a very small window of opportunity to wear them.

    1. Thanks, Amy! I see myself holding on to the poncho for many, many years. For our climate ponchos are perfect, but I can see that in very cold weather they wouldn't work in winter (at least not on their own; I did bring this one to Germany last year and wore it indoors sometimes (I'm always cold!) as well as on top of my coat a few times).

  27. Loving the print and plaid!! If I had to pick between those 3, I would definitely pick the pancho, even though I would love capes... It's tricky to find that one since I am short.

    1. Thanks, Mel! Yes, I can see that warps and capes can be a bit overpowering, and it's important to find one with not too much material when one has a smaller frame.
