High Waisted Flares

I recently bought some high waisted flares in plum*, and I love them. The high rise is so comfortable and doesn’t create unflattering bulges. Everything is nicely held in…

When I wore the flares for the first time, I wore them with my white and black plaid coat that I bought last year before my Germany trip at Banana Republic for 70% off. The coat is a classic that I’ll have for many years. The flares (I bought them in tall) skim the floor as they should, but I think I may have them hemmed just a tiny bit so that they won't completely clean every surface I walk on...

Questions: Do you have any high waisted pants? If so, do you like them? Do you have flares?

  1. This outfit looks fabulous on you! Yes, I wear flares. But I also wear skinny, straight leg, bootcut...whatever I'm in the mood for and looks best with the rest of my outfit. I don't own any high waisted pants, but I have been weeding out more of the low rise pants in my closet and replacing them with a mid rise. Everything is tucked in a little better!

    1. Yes, I don't like wearing my low rise pants anymore either... And I had quite a few as it seemed that was all that was in the stores for awhile. Most of my pants are mid rise as well, but I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I like the high rise pants.

    1. Thanks, Jodie! Isn't it funny how we can't imagine certain styles at times? I remember a time when I would have never ever put on high waisted pants, but I really like these!

  14. The burgundy flares with the black and white coat look great, Andrea. I've totally abandoned low-rise. I sold all my low-rise pants and jeans and am loving replacing them with more comfortable ones that don't need to be hitched up every 5 seconds!

    1. Yes! Not having to pull up your pants is such a relief! Makes me wonder why we so readily put up with it for quite some time... I guess partly because you could almost only find low rise for a while. Plus, anything but low rise seemed so outdated... Funny how everything goes in a circle...

  16. Andrea, that's a great look. But I agree, you have to make them a little shorter so they don't sweep the sidewalk. I hate low-cut pants now, so these high-waisted jeans sound good.

  18. Andrea, I'm so glad that bootcuts are back in style because they can make legs look like they are a mile long. Your combo of burgundy with black and white is brilliant and you look fabulous. Thank you are sharing your style inspiration with my Fine-Whatever link up.

  20. I have some flares that aren't quite as flared. Wore them yesterday, in fact. Kind of liked switching them in to shake things up with all my skinnies and ankle pants. Love your high-waisted pair.

  21. I don't have high waisted pants, they don't flatter my figure. But I do wear flares, I love that look. I keep them long and wear them with wedges so that it adds some length to my short girl legs! LOL This plum color is so pretty, it looks great with the coat, and it's a really fun shade!
