Travel Skirt & What We Eat on the Conscious Cleanse

Maxi Skirt

I’m not only taking my maxi dress with me on our trips but also my maxi skirt. It fits perfectly into my travel wardrobe color palette and keeps me actually nice and cool in warm weather. Plus, I’m also bringing leggings to wear underneath it in case it’s cool.

What We Eat on the Conscious Cleanse

The Conscious Cleanse is going well. Since the boys are doing the cleanse with me this time, I have been trying to cook more interesting foods and am mixing things up a bit. When I’m doing the cleanse by myself, I keep things very simple since I also cook other food for the boys. But I have to say making new and interesting recipes really helps! It’s more fun to eat pulled chicken (hubby’s favorite), lettuce wraps or ginger salmon (the kid’s favorite) than a baked chicken breast every day! I’ve also made a creamy, cashew-based salad dressing/dip which we have enjoyed a lot. In addition, we are enjoying curried carrot soup (I could eat that soup every day!), lentil soup, and veggie soups. And we eat of course lots and lots of raw veggies and some fruit. To satisfy the boys’ sweet tooth and give them something to snack on, we always have frozen grapes, banana chips and roasted, seasoned chickpeas on hand, both of which the boys love!

  2. Andrea---that's so smart about bringing the leggings for cooler weather. I always think of the maxi skirts & dresses for hot weather, but that makes them so versatile!

    1. Thanks, Jodie! I started wearing my maxi skirt with leggings underneath a few months ago when we visited San Francisco and it was quite cool. That gave me the idea to take that combo on vacation.

  4. A striped maxi skirt is a great travel piece! I had never thought of wearing leggings underneath for colder weather. That's genius! My favorite travel outfit for warmer weather is my black and white print button-up maxi dress. I've styled it with tights and ankle boots before for cooler weather but prefer to wear it with sandals and bare legs in the warmer weather. Maxis are the best for traveling!

Was also intrigued and interested to read what you've been eating on the cleanse. It all sounds very good and flavorful!

    1. Yes, I hope to get a lot of mileage out of my maxi dress and my maxi skirt.

I think we are all really happy with the food I've been making this time around. I actually don't mind eating the same (or very similar) meals for many days in a row, but the boys really like variety. The pulled chicken is amazingly good and doesn't use any bottled ingredients. It'll definitely be on the meal plan a lot!

  22. I much prefer a long skirt to shorts. Knit fabrics usually pack so well that a skirt like yours is a great vacation option. Your height is added bonus in being able to wear a maxi skirt and you look amazing in yours.

  25. I love a great maxi, dress or skirt. I have been wanting a striped maxi skirt for a while, I just haven't bit the bullet yet and purchased. I love the way yours looks on you and I bet it would be a great addition to a capsule or vacation wardrobe. You could stick with the black and white for a top or add color. Really versatile to dress up or down!

It sounds as if the cleanse is going well. That's so cool that the rest of the family joined you this time. Makes things much easier when you don't have to make more than one meal! Good for them, supporting you while getting healthy at the same time. And the food sounds really delish!

    1. Thanks, Nikki! The skirt works great with black and white - which is prefect for my travel wardrobe. I've also worn it with a colored top, which worked well. It's also nice with a black & white patterned top, for a bit of pattern mixing.

The cleanse was so much easier with all of us doing it. Plus, I was very happy that we all really cleaned up our eating.

  26. I'm pretty much exclusively in maxis for any extended travel event. My standard uniform is a pair of flats (never know how cool it can be city to city so I play it safe and pack my sandals but keep my flats on while moving, especially between airports, where the easy on and off nature for security makes flats super practical), a flowy maxi, a tank, and a cardi/oversized button up skirt to layer (especially fun to raid the hubs' closet for shirts)

    1. Sounds like you have figured out a great travel wardrobe, Alexis! Layering is indeed the key when traveling to places with widely fluctuating temperatures.
