Black and White Maxi Skirt and Visiting the Presidio in SF

Last weekend we went to the Cider Summit in San Francisco at the Presidio. We love visiting the Presidio because of its beautiful location right on the bay.

Black White Maxi Skirt 4

I was again in a black and white mood and decided to wear my black and white maxi skirt that I got at Loft three or four years ago. I did some pattern mixing by pairing the horizontally-striped skirt with my vertically-striped blouse from Banana Republic (also old). I also wore my black and white necklace from White House Black Market. My denim jacket added much needed warmth and kept everything nice and casual. To add just a bit of color, I decided to wear red sandals and carry my rose gold Rebecca Minkoff MAB bag.

Outfit details: Black white striped maxi skirt Loft (similar), black white striped Banana Republic blouse (similar), cropped denim jacket (similar), red Naot sandals - very comfortable (similar Naot sandals in black), Rebecca Minkoff medium MAB bag in rose gold (I also really like the mini MAB bag in guava)

We tasted some delicious cider, and the kid and I played nine rounds of Connect Four (I won once...).

After the Cider Summit we walked around and explored a bit.

Presidio San Francisco 1

We checked out the Gold Rush exhibit. It’s only a one-room exhibit, but it’s very interesting with diaries, medical instruments from the time period, etc. Unfortunately, photography is not allowed inside the exhibit.

Presidio San Francisco 3

We also got some coffee in the Walt Disney Museum but didn’t have time to actually go inside the museum as our parking meter was about to expire.

Presidio San Francisco 2

We took one last look at the Golden Gate Bridge before we drove back home.

Questions: Do you like wearing maxi skirts? Do you like cider? Have you ever visited the Presidio in San Francisco?

  5. I enjoyed reading about your fun day trip! The neutral pattern mix is so cute and completing it with your denim jacket and red sandals was a fab choice. I only have a couple of maxi skirts, but I do enjoy wearing them very much. I have a difficult time finding ones that don't pool around my feet.

  6. This sounds like an amazing day! I love that your outfit is casual but not boring. Mixing the 2 different stripe pieces definitely adds some interest and the denim jacket is the perfect completer piece.

As to your questions - I do like maxi skirts especially if they have a bit of a slit to show a little leg. As for cider, I do like it. We just had some really great cider in Normandy. I didn't realize it was such an apple producing region until we visited. And I'm almost positive the husband and I went to the Presidio when we visited SF 6 years ago. But I should probably go back next time I'm in SF just to be sure I've been there. :)

    1. Thanks, Beth! Mixing the vertical and horizontal stripes was one of my first attempts at pattern mixing last fall, and I liked the result! :-)

France has some great ciders! And, yes, you should totally go back to the Presidio next time you are in SF to make sure you were there! :-)

  8. I have to say "no" to all of your questions. I love maxi skirts on other women, but not on myself. I feel they make me look frumpy. I think it's because I have no hips and a thick waist, and they look best on tall women with slim waist and wider hips. I will drink cider, but I don't necessarily like it. I have never been to San Fransisco , but would love to visit there someday. It always looks so beautiful in pictures. You look like you had a really fun day. That is my type of adventure! I love your outfit. Great denim jacket!

San Francisco is a great place to visit. I like that in addition to all the "touristy" places, there are so many other, less crowded places to visit.

  9. Nope to all three. I am 5'2" so maxi skirts just don't look right on me. Cider is too sweet for me, I am just not a fan of sweet drinks.

Your outfit is adorable and it looks like you guys had a fun time.

    1. Maxi skirts can be tricky. And the length is always an issue. Mine could be a bit longer...

At the cider festival there were a lot of very dry ciders (just like wine, there are sweet ciders and dry ciders). Many of the European ciders are very dry and more and more American cideries are making dry ciders. I almost only tasted dry ciders that day.

  13. Maxi skirts have become one of my favorite spring and summer staples (I'm not a huge fan of shorts on me, so maxi skirts provide the coverage I like and keep me cool!). I also have a similar striped maxi skirt that I love to pair with black and white polka dots on top. But I also love it with the contrasting vertical stripes. Well done, Andrea!

  18. Andrea I love wearing maxi skirts and used to wear them a lot in the summertime when it gets too hot and you don't want to be exposed in the hot summer sun. I also love drinking cider but mostly in the fall. As for your third question, no I have never been that far north. But I do love your outfit, anything that has black and white attracts me. It is an easy neutral look that can be paired with anything. Thanks for joining us at Sweet Inspiration.
