Grey Leopard-Print Jeans 3 Ways

Casual Outfit for a Soccer Match

Last weekend, we went to the San Jose Earthquake’s season opening game at Avaya Stadium. I’m normally not a big sporting events watcher. However, I have to say, going to the game was a great experience. The view from pretty much anywhere in the stadium is fantastic and there is a big food truck meetup right inside the stadium. The only problem was that it was colder and windier than we had anticipated.

I don’t own any Earthquake gear (nor can I imagine myself ever owning any), but I wanted to wear a casual, yet put-together outfit for the occasion. And out came my grey leopard-print jeans. I have had the jeans for about five years and recently rediscovered them during a closet clean out. I remember debating whether to buy the jeans when I saw them in Germany; they were on major sale and fit well. However, I am normally not a fan of printed jeans, but the grey on grey seemed muted enough yet different. I’m glad that I bought them as the cost per wear is really low by now, and I enjoy wearing them (although I may forget about them for a while at times…). I paired the jeans with a grey long sleeve printed tee, my jean jacket, and a blue/grey leopard-print scarf. I also wore comfortable black flats as well as a delicate fringe necklace.

Two More Casual Outfits with Leopard-Print Jeans

I wore the grey leopard-print jeans and the jean jacket again later in the week on a day I was working from home, this time with a grey sweater, a purple scarf, and turquoise and purple jewelry.

And since I often get stuck on recently “re-discovered” clothing items, I wore the pants a third time. It was an unusually cold and windy day, and I paired the jeans with a plaid shirt, sweater, and my favorite grey jacket. Unfortunately, I was freezing all day...

I was thinking about when I had worn the pants the last time and realized that it was last summer when we visited my aunt. I even wore them with the same grey printed long sleeve tee.

Questions:  What clothing item(s) did you recently rediscover? Do you ever think about what the likely cost per wear will be for an item when you purchase it?

  5. Ok, I am so relating to your "rediscovered" leopard pants! I too recently purged my closet and an item that had kinda been hiding in my closet is a leopard print cardigan by DVF that I bought last year. I love it, but it was kinda taking a back seat in my closet. Anyway, I moved it up to the front as it is a great transitional piece and you won't believe that I wore it 5 times in the last week! Out to dinner, coffee with friends, with a black sheath for a work meeting, and under my rain anorak twice! And, I'm still not sick of it! You're look was great, it does look windy, but looks like you still had fun!

  7. I agree with Greetje, that is one stylish outfit for a soccer game. Those are some great jeans and I like all the different ways you've styled them. I must say, my favorite as got to be with the lavender top, I just love that little pop of color with it.

  14. Hi Andrea, I love that photo of you and your aunt - you both look so happy. I wanted to say that i've got a pair of jeans very similar but in a brown and black colourway and I too keep forgetting about them. You have such a great smile, it's your best accessory x

I love re-discovering items I already own, its going shopping all over again. I recently found a white pencil skirt I've had for a while now and can't wait to wear it this spring and summer.
Thank you for linking up with weekend wear, have a lovely weekend!

  16. Those pants are SO fun! It sounds like you're happy that you bought them. I love it when I'm on the fence about buying something and then I end up wearing that item a bunch and I think about "price per wear" quote often.

I've been using the "turn the hanger around and hanging my clothes backwards after I wear them" trick in my closet to see what I've worn the past couple of weeks and what I'm neglecting. The other day, I put together an outfit with three items I haven't worn in ages. It made me super happy to wear some stuff that was already in my closet rather than feeling like I had to go shopping to buy new stuff. Truth be told, I've spent my clothing allowance for February and March on my German lessons so I've had to get creative with my outfits since I haven't been shopping!

I used to do a version of the "turn the hanger around and hanging my clothes backwards after I wear them trick!" I'll have to do it again!

  18. I love those jeans! So versatile and cute!!

I always think about cost per wear with shoes and handbags, but clothing I don't! It's funny, the cheaper clothing I buy, I wear the most. When I pay a lot for a piece of clothing I am always afraid to wreak it! So it gets worn less often.

    Have a great weekend!!

And interesting observation about more expensive clothing. I'm really hesitant to wear expensive pieces too, at least at first...

  19. If I had your legs, I'd wear printed jeans all the time! They look amazing on you! I do think about cost-per-wear sometimes, especially when I take out a favorite and realize that I've been wearing it for years. I try not to think about it when I realize put something in the Good Will pile after a couple of wears though. ;)

Thanks so much for sharing with Fun Fashion Friday & have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks so much, Dawn Lucy! You are so sweet!

I always think that in a way it all evens itself out. I have quite a few affordable clothes that I have worn a lot, and I have some not-so-cheap clothes that didn't work out the way I had expected... So when you take the average of the two, it's all good... :-)

      Have a great weekend, too!

  25. Versatile pants! Glad you rediscovered these closet orphans, they are very flattering.

The whole concept behind my 52 Pick-me-up is to provide prompts that (hopefully) inspire one to get looking into one's closet and mix things up a little bit. This year it's been a bit more "sedate" because the prompts are are all colors.
Thank you for linking, I love having new faces! Keep looking for more purples in your closet and keep linking!

To answer your "cost per wear" question, I usually don't take that into consideration when shopping. If I like it, it fits, and the price is reasonable, I'll get it. I DO have an Old Navy dress that I got for $15 that I've worn so many times that its CPW is probably 25 cents now!

    1. I really like the color prompt! I don't think I actually own a lot of purple, but I think it's a good color on me. And now that I think about it, I do have a purple tank! :-) So I'll be back soon for the link-up fun! :-)
