Slowing Down and Enjoying Life

Life has been very busy lately, but I have made sure to slow down every day and enjoy the small things, which really are the big things.

I am very thankful for the time with my boys.

I've been getting up thirty minutes earlier every day, which makes mornings a lot calmer. I also go to bed as early as possible every day and haven't watched TV. Getting more sleep definitely helps me to feel better and less overwhelmed.

Finally, I make time for some yoga, a cup of tea while lighting a scented candle as well as a little reading every day - simple pleasures that make a difference in my day.

Question: What are you doing to slow down and enjoy life more?

Be well,
Andrea

  1. How good of you to do that! I believe that a little bit of relaxing is so much better for body and mind. I hope you feel more relaxed. I know that when i have been to busy, and it shows on my ,, numbers,, the only thing that really helps is rest! Have a nice sunday!

    1. Yes, relaxing is so important. I realized that the hard way a few weeks ago when everything just became too much for me... Making sure we do small, joyful things every day and slow down a bit can really make a difference.

  2. I am doing the same... getting up earlier so I can some quiet time in the morning to start the day before Sofia wakes up.. and going to bed early to get enough sleep. this way I feel energetic and calm during the day. :)

  3. Good for you for deliberately slowing down. I have a goal of reading for at least 15 minutes right before I turn the light out at night (as opposed to being on my computer right before I turn out the light). I listen to a lot of audiobooks but don't do a very good job of actually reading. Once I get consistent with the 15 minutes, I hope to increase my time a bit until I'm reading for 30 minutes before bed. I also try to take 15-20 minutes in the morning to be reflective, write in my journal etc. I'm always SO much happier with myself when I do these 2 things.

    1. I look forward to reading before I turn off the lights ever single day. It's such a simple yet satisfying pleasure! And, yes, calm mornings make for much better days! I haven't written in my reflective journal recently; I'll have to change that! But I'll have to get up another 15 minutes earlier so that it'll be relaxing and not a source of stress... :)

  4. I just don't plan too much. I don't feel I have to slow down often. I'm a pretty relaxed person and my hub and I both love being at home which is relaxing for us.

    1. I'm planning a lot less than I used to, and it has helped. But the kid's activities alone keep us very busy... :-)
