Weekend fun (September 14) and Weekly Menu

We had a fun but busy weekend.

On Friday night we met up with friends at Santa Clara Valley Brewing in San Jose. Andy loves the beers there, and we had a lot of fun playing Jenga.

On Saturday, we saw a Beatles tribute show; it was great to see the kid dancing to the songs.

After the show, we met up with my brother-in-law.

On Sunday, we made it to the Farmers’ Market.

In the afternoon, the kid went to a friend’s house, and Andy and I checked out the Mountain View Arts & Wine Festival.

Our first stop was the Cupcake Vineyards wine truck, where we got to taste some prosecco and wine for free. I really liked the prosecco. Cupcake Vineyards is in Livermore Wine Country where we recently went wine tasting for the first time.

The Mountain View Arts & Wine Festival has a seemingly never-ending number of vendors, and we enjoyed soaking it all in. Here are a few that stood out:

We also spent some time on meal planning, grocery shopping, and a little meal prep. Here are the meals that are on the menu:

Meal 1: Salmon burgerscorn, and a green salad.
Meal 2: Grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup.
Meal 3: Pasta bolognese and a bell pepper/tomato salad.
Meal 4: Homemade pizza with mushrooms, grilled onions, & brie cheese and a green salad. The boys loved last week’s pizza so much that it’s going back on the menu.

Questions: What was the highlight of your weekend? What’s on the menu for this week?

Be well,

  1. What a lovely family weekend you had! I am most impressed with your menu planning! Well done!!

    1. Thanks, Tamera!

I don't necessarily love meal planning and meal prep when I'm doing it on the weekend, but it always makes the week go so much more smoothly!

  2. Liked it all. And so glad that the weather cooled down enough to enjoy the weekend even more.

  3. We served Cupcake Prosecco at our 25th anniversary party and I just loved it!

    1. It's for sure a great celebration drink!

  4. what a fun weekend full of events! I love jenga!

  5. Fun post, lovely photos! I love farmer's markets. :)

  6. What a great weekend with so many fun things to do.

I love Prosecco. They have something here this summer that is a very hot drink: Hugo. It's a light Sparkling wine with lime or with pomegranate. It has less alcohol than normal wine and I live the lime version a lot. Also non alcohol beer with fruits like lemon, apple or orange are a bit hit this season here.

    1. I had Hugo when I was in Germany, and I liked it, too! It was perfect on ice since it was soooo hot and humid when I was there...

  7. What a fun and busy weekend. Your son is getting so big!

    1. Yes, he is growing up too quickly... :-)

  8. You sure had a great weekend Andrea...almost feel that I was there with you...thanks!
By the way, your week menu sure sounds delicious...
Hope you are enjoying your week :)

  9. Sounds like a wonderful weekend! It's been way to long since I've been to The Farmers Market, but I'm putting it on {hopefully} this weekends list. I'm so glad to hear that your dad is doing better Andrea!!

    1. Thanks, EA!

It can be a challenge to make it to the Farmers Market (and we have missed quite a few Sundays lately), but we are always happy when we do.
