Basil Tuna Boats

I had basil tuna boats for the first time at a potluck party a few months ago, and I thought they were a great idea. They are very tasty, easy to eat (perfect for a cocktail party) and pretty. Plus, they are really a “non recipe” as you can fill them with the tuna salad of your liking.

Basil Tuna Boats

Basil Tuna Boats

  • Basil leaves
  • 1 can tuna, drained
  • 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • Juice of 1/2 - 1 lemon - depending on size and how much you like lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 - 2 tablespoons capers - optional
Instructions
  1. Mix the tuna with the Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, mustard, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and capers.
  2. Fill the basil leaves with the tuna mixture and arrange them on a plate.
  3. Enjoy!

I love how easy these tuna boats are and that I usually have all the ingredients on hand. In fact, I may make some for Labor Day!

Questions: What’s your favorite easy appetizer? What’s on your Labor Day and/or weekend menu?

Be well,
Andrea

  3. What a great idea! Most of the time my basil leaves are pretty small though. I guess I'd have to hunt for big ones (I usually buy the plants and the leaves just aren't that big).

    1. Yes, you definitely need bigger leaves! I buy basil plants at Trader Joe's, and the leaves are usually big. I also grow some in our patio and let the leaves get big.
