End of Summer Color Choice: White

While you can certainly wear white after Labor Day, nothing says summer like white. At least that’s how I have been feeling lately. And I am especially fond of white and navy. I realized that I hadn’t worn a lot of white yet this summer and changed that quickly.

On Saturday (for our Livermore Wine Country trip), I wore white capris with a white/navy tank and a navy cardigan along with a colorful statement necklace.

And on Monday I worked at home and was comfortable (yet slightly more put together than my usual yoga pants) when I paired the white capris with a very soft, comfy purple tee.

Questions: What’s your go-to/favorite piece(s) of clothing right now? I’m definitely into as much white as possible. While reading some fashion/style blogs, I realized how nice white and grey looks and wish I had a nice grey tee to pair with my white capris. I’m trying to not buy any new pieces in the next few months, but the “perfect” grey tee is going on my “list.”

Be well,
Andrea

  1. I love white and Navy. In fact, my bridesmaids wore Navy in my wedding. Then again, I was in the Navy.

I don't wear much, if any, white. I have one white shirt that I need to wash. I especially don't wear white pants. I figure I wore them in the 80's, that's good enough. But really, I'm short and stocky - it's not a good look for me. Add in my coffee drinking and my 3 year old? Seriously they would never stay white.

In the summer, I'm a big fan of capris (even though I'm short). But right now I have two beige pairs - one is too big and one is too small, and apparently I don't have the middle size. I'm kind of in the midst of a "no new clothing" thing this year. (With a few exceptions, namely underwear and bathing suits because I swim a lot).

Mostly I'm hoping that I either lose the last 5 baby pounds or give up on the last 5 pounds. Then I can make one last foray into the closet and toss whatever is too small/ too big. Turns out that for one thing, my shoulders are a lot broader after baby #2.

    1. I agree, having clothes that fit in your closet is important. I have too many things that don't fit right... I am working on reducing my wardrobe to only what fits and I actually wear. And then the plan is to update what I have with only a few pieces a year and tossing what doesn't work...

  2. Both outfits look great! My go to clothing right now are comfy & cool skirts.

    1. Thanks, Pam.

I have a couple skirts in my closet that I haven't worn in a long time. I'll have to change that!

  3. I'm such a slob that I can never wear white especially on the bottom! My waist is growing and nothing fits so my go to outfit is lounge pants and a t-shirt. Fancy right! ;-)

    1. Right now is the time for lounge pants & a t-shirt!!! And, yes, white pants are challenging!

  4. You are great at styling yourself! As you know, I'm addicted to Stitch Fix and that is helping my closet. After I quit working, I kind of spend most of my time in athletic clothes and things that are comfortable. My issue with white pants during the day is that I have two dogs so I have to save the white for going out.

    1. Thanks, Stacie! I always love seeing your Stitch Fix posts! You have gotten some great pieces!

I teach at a community college and always dress up for teaching but usually change as soon as I get home. Sometimes I find I'm getting a bit too comfortable so I'm trying to make an more of an effort to look more "put together" even when I'm home/running errands/driving the kid around.

White pants are definitely challenging to wear even without a dog! :-)
