How Active Are You?

I exercise most days of the week. If I don’t, I just don’t feel like myself, both physically and emotionally. (If you are interested, I plan workouts every Sunday on my Facebook page, and I enter (most) workouts into my DailyMile account.)

The other day, I went for a short walk around our neighborhood with the toddler, and I realized that I used to walk a lot more than I do now.

When the toddler was first born, I walked with him twice a day, for a total of at least four miles a day. I loved carrying him close to me in a carrier. Once he got a bit older, we went on daily outings with the stroller. Our favorite playground has a 3.1 mile round trip walk, and I would often add a few extra “loops” to make the walk a bit longer.

At one point, hubby and I enjoyed evening strolls after dinner, and the toddler was content in the stroller.

The toddler is turning 4 soon, and he has clearly outgrown the stroller. While he loves to run around, he is not into going on “formal” walks. (I did manage to go on a 3 mile hike with him earlier in the summer, but it was not a small feat to convince him and motivate him throughout the hike….) The toddler has an organized sport most afternoons, which means that he gets lots of exercise, and I get little (besides my workouts).

I think I  need to add some more activity back into my daily routine (besides the workouts I do). I used to do sets of pushups, squats, lunges, jumping jacks, etc. I think I should add short bursts of activity throughout the day, especially since I do a lot of work from home and often get so focused on my work that I don’t get up for hours.

Questions: How do you stay active throughout the day? Please share!

Be well,
Andrea
