Clean-Out-the-Fridge Juice
- 1 head lettuce
- 1 fennel bulb
- 1 small cucumber
- 1 lemon
- 1 small bunch of grapes
2 small apples– I didn’t use the apples pictured above as I realized the juice would be sweet enough because of the grapes

Verdict?
Delicious! To be honest, I was a bit scared of the fennel. Only recently have I acquired the taste of fennel, and I now really like it roasted. But I had never juiced it and was afraid it would be overpowering in the juice. But it wasn’t. I think the grapes helped a lot.
Questions: Do you like fennel? If so, what’s your favorite way to eat it? How are you consuming your veggies this week?
Be well,
Andrea
Fennel...I've only smelt it and it almost reminded me of licorice root. I've been blending my salads. I don't have a juicer but i figure the fiber and nutrients in the pulp are what i need. olive oil, lemon juice, tomato, romaine, cucumber, and ground flax seed. Tastes like a salad so i use a pig straw to swallow it quickly, but i eat more veggies this way and don't like gnawing on salads.
ReplyDeleteMy Mom used to braise fennel when I was a kid and I hated the taste of it as I'm not fond of licorice and that's what it reminded me of. These days I like it raw in salads and roasted....
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit scared of raw fennel myself... I love fennel seeds though (I know very different). Such a pretty color that juice is!
ReplyDeleteI have never tried fennel! Should I be eating it? I'm going to have to come to your blog more often to find out what veggies I'm missing out on.
ReplyDeleteThe juice does look pretty by the way. I'd never imagine that that combo above would taste good together.
:-) Marion
I should clean my fridge like you too :-)
ReplyDeleteFennel? Never cooked with it...
Hope you are having a fantastic week Andrea!
Great combo, and now you don't have to feel guilty about waiting food :-). I do like fennel, especially raw on salads. Very yum!
ReplyDeleteI do love fennel. My fave way is the easiest -- raw. Either as a dunker in dips or sliced thinly in a salad. Love the snappy crunch.
ReplyDeleteI love your juice ideas. I need to get my juicer back out, you always inspire me. I would think fennel would be overpowering too, but no? I'm not a huge fennel fan, but I don't NOT like it....maybe I need to try it in more things, like juice! I like that this recipe was apple free, in other words, I could drink it!
ReplyDeleteI always make clean out the fridge meals!!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I was thinking the same thing about the fennel, but then you said it. LOL! I do like fennel a lot...I'll have to try it in a smoothie sometime. I really need to work on increasing the veggies in my smoothies, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to try it.
ReplyDeleteOk. PB frozen yogurt with jelly? When can I come visit!
mmm! I havent juiced in way too long!! that looks soo good!! I love adding carrot and apple to my juice! interesting use of fennel though!! I also have never tried juicing grapeS! nice!
ReplyDeletehappy Friday!!
I'm shocked your produce lasted that long! You're usually so good about going through it ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the fennel turned out...I would have been a little nervous about that one, too. Fennel is the main ingredient in this new soup recipe I discovered last Fall. Maybe I should post about it so you can check out the recipe. I think you would really like it :)
