Weekend Fun and Weekly Meals and Workout Plan

We had a lot of weekend plans, but most of them did not happen due to lots of rain and cold weather. But we still had lots of fun.

Our weekend fun started on Friday night with the SubZERO Festival in San Jose. There was food, art, music, and beer. What more can you ask for? Luckily, the toddler had taken a short nap earlier in the day, so he made it until 9:00 p.m., which is definitely past his bed time on a normal day.

On Saturday, I met my friend Lara for a free class at Lululemon. It was a great workout and fun to catch up. Unfortunately, the rest of our Saturday plans didn’t happen.

We also had plans for Sunday morning, but, again, they had to be canceled due to the weather. On Sunday afternoon hubby had managed to invite himself over (as well as the toddler and me) to our friends’ house to watch them brew beer. It’s been a dream of his to brew his own beer for a while now, and it was actually really cool to watch the entire process. I see beer brewing in our future! There was also lots of delicious food.

Here are our meals for the week:

Meal 1: Brown rice, sautéed veggies, and tofu.
Meal 2: Grilled asparagus and grilled salmon.
Meal 3: Brown rice pasta, tomato sauce, and meatless meatballs and a Greek salad (tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, feta, and olives).
Meal 4: Roasted beets, potatoes, and carrots topped with over-easy eggs on a bed of lettuce.
Meal 5: Salmon salad (wild canned salmon mixed with lemon juice, avocado, and capers) on a bed of lettuce.

And here is what I have planned in terms of exercise:

Monday: Barre workout.
Tuesday: Upper and lower body weight circuits.
Wednesday: Cardio (either a long walk/hike or stair climber and elliptical at the gym)
Thursday: Upper and lower body weight circuits.
Friday: Yoga and HIIT.

Questions: What was the highlight of your weekend? What are you eating this week? What exercise do you have planned?

Be well,
Andrea

It was great seeing you on Saturday, and I'm glad you still got to make beer despite the weather ;)

I think I am having tofu, brown rice, and veggies tonight, too! I also have a spaghetti squash to use that I found at Sprouts. They are hard to find this time of year. I'll probably make that tomorrow to use up before our vacation :)

    Have a great week, friend!

  5. Beer making at home. That is so cool! Hopefully, you can show me the details of it. However, I'm sure you still having a fabulous time there. Your toddler looks like having so much fun with his new friend. :o) Have a lovely day.

  6. How fun!! I would seriously love to watch someone brew beer. Nick and I got really into that show Brew Masters on Discovery Channel, and I just think it would be so fun to brew beer "on the side". I had a friend in college who brewed beer and it was so delicious (and powerful!).

HIghlight of my weekend? Dinner at Nick's mom's house. IT was one of the best meals I've had in a LONG time!

  7. Even though the weather wasn't that good you had a great weekend in my opinion.

We had a 4 day weekend and lots of sunshine so did a lot of reading in the garden, very relaxing.

  8. The rain really put a dent in our weekend as well! We had great food over the weekend as you already read on my blog, amazing smoked chicken and an incredible light cheesecake!

I don't know what I am cooking this week yet! It's Tuesday already I had better figure it out!

  11. Sounds like a great weekend. So neat that your husband brewed his own beer, too...just like having a microbrewery right in your house!

It is super hot out, so my plans are to cross train today and run whenever it gets below 80!

  12. Bummer about the weather :( I'm glad you still had a great time at the Festival and BEER-brewing! Wow! Is your hubby thinking of trying beer-brewing soon? My dad brewed beer a few times when I was little and he seemed to really enjoy it :) I see some posts about home-brewed beer in the near future ... ;)

Love your menu for the week - the grilled asparagus and salmon look especially tasty! Peter just made a huge batch of risotto with chicken and tomatoes today, so I know what we're eating for the next few days :P

  13. I don't think I could ever brew my own beer because it would just be too downright scary to have that much beer in my house!

I like the sounds of that salmon and avocado salad. Might try that one this week.

Thanks for always dropping by my blog and leaving comments. I always look forward to them. :)

  14. I love your meal and workout plans - so fun to see what you're up to!

This week the meal plan is a bit random since we're finishing up some 'extra' meals from our freezer. Workouts? I'm running a bit each day, spinning twice and doing lots of ST!

  15. Sounds like a fun weekend! My husband would love to open a brew pub with his best friend. Not sure it will ever happen though :-) Is your Barre workout Pure Barre or something different? I did my first Pure Barre class over the weekend, and was seriously sore the next day. But it was a good sore :-)
