Weekend Adventures

We had a certificate for a free two-night stay in San Luis Obispo, and to celebrate the end of the quarter, we used it this past weekend. It was nice to get away and spend some quality, wireless time together. On the way, we stopped in Paso Robles; we (well, mainly hubby as I was the designated driver most of the time) really enjoyed the wine and beer tasting that we did. And the toddler loved hanging out with some goats and farm animals! Both cities have a quiet, low key feel, and it really felt like we were getting away. Just what we needed!

Question: What was the highlight of your weekend? What was the best thing you ate? I had some awesome salads (greens and roasted veggies with grilled salmon, a mixed salad with feta cheese, and a salad with a citrus dressing and grilled tuna). I make lots of salads at home, but it’s not that easy to find great salads in restaurants. I felt very lucky that all the salads were great. Two of the salads were at Odyssey World Café in Paso Robles and the other one at Firestone Grill in San Luis Obispo. We definitely hope to go back to both places in the future.

Be well,
Andrea

  1. We found a new pizza restaurant that features thin crust...our favorite. I had a perfect Margherita and left happy and declaring that I had just had the perfect pizza! Your little getaway sounds like it was idyllic!

  6. What a beautiful weekend. The best thing I ate over the weekend was the awesome soup I made Saturday. I had it again for lunch today and it kept me full all afternoon.

  7. How FUN! I LOVE San Luis! I was in short film a few years ago and we spent a few day there. It's also not far from where Brent grew up.

  8. What a perfect get-a-way! You guys totally deserve it! I adore wine and beer tasting!

The best thing I did this weekend was spend time with Mark, making a nice homemade meal on Saturday night. It was cold here, so we just settled in and enjoyed one another :)

  10. Sounds like a great trip! I love weekend getaways like this, although we rarely do them. I think this September Nick and I are going to take a trip up north to Cleveland to visit the Great Lakes Brewery and eat at Michael Simon's restaurant (he's an Iron Chef).
Your salads with salmon and tuna sound so delicious. I'm all about the combo of greens, feta, and good fish.

  14. What a fun weekend! I love little mini getaways like that! Cute pics of you and the fam too! :)

I love "wireless" time away from the computer, sometimes it's so nice!

The best thing I ate this weekend was probably a piece of flourless chocolate cake covered in heath bar crumbles split four ways with my husband and best friends!
