Two Years Later

I had almost forgotten that I started this blog two years ago today. Initially, it was meant to be an online diary, a place for me to focus more on me and to make the healthiest choices for me and my family. And then I discovered the blogging community – a wonderful, supportive group of people. Thank you for being part of my life!

While I have struggled at times with finding the right blog/life balance, I am so glad that I started this blog and wish I had started sooner. When it comes to this blog, I now do what fits into my life at the moment, which often means less time plugged in and more time living. I don’t worry about documenting everything anymore or blogging a certain number of times per week. I do what works. Sounds easy enough, but it took me some time to get to this point…  I guess I had to learn that, like with pretty much everything in life, more is not necessarily better… Smile

Here are some of the reasons why I love this blog so much:
  • By starting this blog, I found many wonderful blogs which have inspired me, challenged me, made me laugh, think and take action. Thank you!
  • It helped me organize and keep track of my recipes (at least some of them…).
  • I love seeing the toddler grow up on my blog!
Here is one of the first photos of the toddler on the blog:

  • My cooking and video projects really get the toddler involved in the kitchen. And I plan on involving him more and more…
  • My blog even inspired hubby to start his own blog, and he has cooked a few meals on his own and is also getting more and more involved in the kitchen! I love it!
  • And you, of course, whom I love interacting with via comments and e-mails. Thank you for being part of my life!
Questions: When did you start reading blogs? If you have a blog, when did you start your blog? What do you like most about blogging/reading blogs?
Be well,

  1. Happy Blogiversary!! I've been lucky enough to meet you, and follow your wonderful blog! And of course enjoying watching the toddler get so big so fast! I struggle with blog-life balance, too...and I don't read as many blog, as often as I'd like...but I have to do what works with my crazy schedule :) So glad to call you a friend, Andrea and I hope we can meet IRL again soon!

  2. awe he's so little! happy 2 years! glad you blog, love you!

  3. Happy blogiversary!! Looking forward to keep reading your blog :)

I started reading blogs in late 2005, and began my own blog in June 2007. I love the community I've become a part of in blogging and also being able to share my life with others; and I love reading about other's journeys/lives.

  4. so happy you've been blogging too! :)

  5. I have posts from my current site dating back to 2007 but I had two other starter sites that led to this one that probably pre-dated it by two years at least. I discovered very early that I wanted to reach out to other bloggers as well as record my own thoughts. It has been such a pleasure meeting people like you and your family. We can expand our own neighborhood well beyond our little homes now and it is so wonderful!

  6. Andrea, Happy 2nd Anniversary...and many more to come :-) Enjoy your posts! Have a wonderful week!

  7. two years-yay! i am like you, i try to balance the time on the blog with real time ;) i am inspired everyday by like minded healthy people. love it!

  8. Andrea Happy Bloganniversary! Two years, that is awesome. I love watching your toddler grow, the family activities and yes your cooking too.

I found the blog world about two years ago. I started my own blog just one year ago. I have enjoyed making new friends, sharing recipes, book reviews and learning about the different places we all live in.

Blogging has expanded my horizons without leaving home!

  9. Happy blogoversary, Andrea! I'm so happy that you are part of the blog world. You certainly are one of the wonderful people I got to meet through the World Wide Web.

I started reading blogs when I was home from college and had nothing better to do. But let's leave the blog gossip to when we actually see each other face to face. ;-)

  10. Congrats Andrea!! Your blog is one of my favorites, by far, especially when you post pics of your adorable son!! And your videos this year have been amazing.

I started my blog on April 9th of 2009, so about 3 weeks after you! Time flies when you're having fun.

  11. Happy 2 years!!! It's so exciting to be able to look back and see so much of your life documented this way :)

  12. Congratulations! Blogging is certainly a labor of love, isn't it? I'm so glad to have met you and thoroughly enjoy reading what you're up to. Have a wonderful week!

  13. He looks so tiny in that picture!!

I wanted to start my blog to hold me accountable to the world for what I ate/exercised, etc.

What I love about my blog is its gotten me to try things I never would have even tried before - quinoa, spaghetti squash, acorn squash, butternut squash, baby spinach, sweet potatoes - the list goes on - and turns out I like them!

    Congrats on 2 years! :D

  14. I have started reading blogs years ago and finally decided to have my own one at the end of 2009. It's been an interesting journey so far...:)!

  15. Hi Andrea! Congratulations. Happy Blogiversary! I look forward to many more of your posts!!! I started my blog to keep myself accountable in my weight loss efforts, but have found it is so much more than that. I have electronically connected with some amazing people!!! And learned alot from their stories. Have a great day.

  16. Happy 2nd anniversary. It's always a pleasure to read your blog and I like it very much.

I started reading blogs about 2 years ago when I was looking for information about running and I found some blogs about it. After a while I thought it would be nice to start my own which I did in June 2009. So guess we started around the same time with blogging.

  17. Happy 2 year blogiversary, Andrea! I love your blog and watching your toddler grow. I know I've said this before, but I think it's wonderful how you feed him such a healthy and adventurous (for most toddlers) diet! I wish I had a do over for my kids!!!

  18. Happy anniversary!
I can relate what you say about finding the right balance and make what it works for us.
I started 1.5 years ago and it has evolved from daily food blog to today's more general blog. I like it better this way because it records more my life and the evolution of my thoughts rather than just food.

  19. Happy blogging anniversary.

I totally get what you are saying about finding balance with blogging. I started my first blog, a family one about 5 years ago. I started blogging about food and fitness almost 3 years ago but it was called Competing to Lose. I didn't start reading blogs regularly until a year ago. I had no idea there was a "community" of bloggers! That by far has been the best part!!

  20. happy happy belated blogbirthday.

    I adore our community.

  21. aw, congrats on your milestone!! i started blogging last spring sometime. the best part for me is getting to learn stuff from other people. that's awesome your husband is involved in the kitchen. wish mine would. :)

  22. I started my blog three years ago. Never thought I'd be doing my own one, but after leaving the Merc, it felt like a natural thing to do. I'm so glad I did it, too. The best part? Seriously, I know it sounds trite, but it's "meeting'' other bloggers through this common passion. You get to be friends, whether you've actually met in person or not. It's a wonderful way to start new friendships.
