Grapes, blueberries, cherries, Greek yogurt, and a bit of granola
Mixed organic greens, edamame, red onions, cucumbers, mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil in a simple vinaigrette (olive oil, lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper)
While we are focusing on fruits and veggies, we still enjoyed a glass of wine, some cheese, sundried tomatoes, and olives on date night. We didn’t finish all the cheese and olives however, as we had enjoyed a big salad at home prior to going out. The focus of date night was spending time with each other, enjoying a bit of great wine, a few bites of delicious cheese, and a few good olives. When we picked up the toddler we felt light and satisfied, not stuffed and uncomfortable. It was perfect. Now we just have to remember that feeling (and not get tempted and overindulge in the future…).

Question: What was the best thing you ate over the weekend? I LOVED the brie we had on date night. But I only had a tiny bit as I can’t handle rich cheese very well…
Be Well,
Andrea
I made a lovely Fricase de Pollo this evening - so tasty and healthy! Great pictures of you Andrea.
ReplyDeletei can honestly say ive never combines cherries, grapes and blueberries. that sounds like a wonderful mix and i love that they are all about the same size/shape :) best thing i ate: favorite hummus from a greek joint downtown.
ReplyDeletehave a great week!
I'm a fairly new visitor to your blog but as you can see I love what I found and keep coming back for more. I made lime curd yesterday and then of course had to make scones to go with it. That involved brewing a good Vietnamese coffee which in turn led to a steaming bowl of Pho. I could go on but for the sake of brevity I will send best wishes your way. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteI've never put grapes in one of my yogurt bowls. How have I missed that? Sounds like a great combo! I had a fabulous slice of caprese pizza that was pretty darn good.
ReplyDeletethat granola and fruit mix looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your date night! It's so fun to go to dinner and not become overly-stuffed. I think we've all done that at times in our lives (and many people still do it over and over again). This weekend Nick and I brought my brother to dinner and I got a light salad with sesame crusted tuna, plus my favorite beer. It was perfectly satisfying.
ReplyDeleteYum, yum - love the look of that salad! Coincidentally, the best thing I ate all weekend (or my favorite!) was this awesome Greek Salad from Caviar and Bananas - WOW!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a beautiful date night! I just had some brie with breakfast this morning. :)
ReplyDeleteTomatoes...cucumbers...arugula...oh my! I didn't mention that one to you, did I? ;)
ReplyDeleteThis date night sounds so perfect! I think I know the place from the photos, and I have been dying to try it. Not sure if I could have as much discipline as you around that cheese, though!
A perfect date night to me... I had a tasty homemade pizza this weekend that was so delicious.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you for your date night! Your blog is so inspiring. --- Marilen
ReplyDeleteI sure need to get back to eating salads. I tried blending them for a while because i couldn't stand chewing on greens, but drinking them was...interesting. I'll commit to eating a nice healthy salad tomorrow for lunch. Thanks for being a good example.
ReplyDeletemmm I had a ham, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on homemade foccacia bread from a little diner my hubby and I found in an alley in Seattle. :D
ReplyDeleteWe are also trying to focus on fruits and veggies in the new school year, cutting back on cheese - didn't even do our regular Saturday cheese lunch :(
ReplyDeleteThese pictures make me want to head straight back to California! Gorgeous! I am all for wine and cheese on date nights -- love your style :)
ReplyDeleteBest thing over the weekend was a salad with the most amazing Swiss cheese. YUM!
I love the date nights you guys have!
ReplyDeleteI don't have children but I don't have date nights either. Maybe it's time to plan that every month as well!
The food looks so good, I've just finished my lunch and that's good otherwise I would now be licking the screen :)
Looks like a delicious weekend :)
ReplyDeleteMy foodie highlight was the coffee rubbed steak we grilled Saturday night!
You guys are set a great example! The best thing I had this past weekend was tapas at a restaurant in my neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteLove yogurt with fresh fruits :-) The salad look awesome as well...and I love wine and cheese.
ReplyDeleteYour food looks so fresh and wonderful. Brie is my favorite treat!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect date night. The best thing I had over the weekend was a salad with dates, beets, and roasted butternut squash. I love veggies.
ReplyDeleteI had a piece of darn good "chocolate bar pie" on Saturday that I'm glad I don't have the recipe for!!
ReplyDeleteHey Andrea, sounds like you're having a wonderful time there. It's been awhile since my last date out! =o(
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, Kristy
I love noshing that way, especially in the summer. Sometimes you don't need a bonafide meal, but just some cheese, fruit, tomatoes, olives and bread. Add some wine and you can't help but have a fine time.
