Hubby and I are still fighting off a cold (the toddler actually got the sickest with a quite severe ear infection and a high fever. Luckily, he is better now.) Anyway, I thought that the Sleepytime Throat Tamer was just what we needed, and made us both a cup last night…
When hubby first smelled it, he said, “It smells just like medicine.” But as soon as he took a sip, he loved it as it soothed his throat as he was drinking it. And I definitely felt nice and relaxed after drinking my cup and slept better than in many days. This morning I noticed that the package states, “Persons with gallstones should avoid ginger products” (the tea contains ginger). Oops. Fortunately, I didn’t have any gallstone problems, but I’ll look more into the ginger/gallstone connection as I love ginger and consume it quite frequently… In fact, I think the ginger flavor is what I liked best about the tea! I look forward to trying the other teas soon.
And now this week’s meals:
Tuesday: Salmon cakes on a bed of lettuce.
Wednesday: Wrapped Up Wednesday. Shrimp sautéed with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and vinegar wrapped in Bibb lettuce leaves. There will also be shredded carrots, cucumbers, and edamame to add to the wraps. An interactive, messy dinner… :-)
Thursday: Pasta in lemon sauce with Parmesan cheese and basil. Hubby may actually be making this… Stay tuned, I think I may have even convinced him to write a guest post... We’ll also have a salad.
Friday: Salad Friday. It’s going to be big and colorful…
Questions: Are you a coffee drinker or a tea drinker? Or both? What’s your favorite tea? I start every day with a cup of coffee, but I also like tea a lot. I drink some green tea (hot and/or cold) on most days.
Be well,
Andrea
Hope you all are back up on top in no time!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy both tea and coffee of all kinds...like to experiment with them!
xoxo
I just discovered your wonderful blog, and I'm so glad I did! I am a huge tea fan - these teas look gorgeous! Thank you for introducing me to some new CS teas - I'm definitely going to look for the blueberry white tea now! :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope y'all feel better very soon!!
I am a tea drinker but I used to drink coffee. I only do decaf these days. I really like the tazo full leaf calm.
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting about ginger and gallstones. I have never heard about that connection either! I'm trying to figure out the mechanism in my head...but I can't. Let us know if you learn anything!
ReplyDeleteI am not really into tea, unless I'm sick, then I love it. I would much prefer tea over coffee to soothe a soar throat. But in the morning, on most days, I have to have my coffee! I just can't seem to get into tea. Iced tea in the summer, however, is fabulous.
I would also like to hear more about the link between ginger and gallstones..keep us updated.
ReplyDeleteLove your eats you have planned. The lemon pasta on Thursday sounds great!
I am more of a coffee drinker, but drink tea on occasion.
I got back and fort on the coffee... I do enjoy a good cup... but I think for me personally it is best only once in a while... I drink a lot of tea during the day... 6+ cup/day.
ReplyDeleteI drink both, but not on a regular basis. It's more like maybe one or twice a week. For coffee i like plain roasted or hazelnut flavored. For tea, I like green or black.
ReplyDeleteI'm both.. I enjoy so much my daily cup of coffee that no matter how much I force myself to quite, I just can't. (although I've been reducing from 2 cups to 1 cup lately). I also love teas, every kind, I probably drink 2-3 different kinds every day!
ReplyDeleteI drink both as well. I do one cup of coffee in the morning and then two cups of green tea in the afternoon.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you guys are all sick! Tea definitely helps :)
ReplyDeleteI love coffee and tea so I drink a lot (I mean, a LOT) of both. I only have one cup of caffeinated coffee first thing, then decaf the rest of the day. Tea- English Breakfast with milk :)
I love both! I prefer coffee as the first thing in the morning and decaf tea to warm me up throughout the day!
ReplyDeleteYum, I love tea about the same as coffee (that ones in the air). I want some of that Morning Wellness one right now. Hey, speaking of that, I want Celestial Seasonings to send me some tea!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better- that sounds like a terrible sickness running through your house and I imagine it's taking a toll on all of you. I love coffee but I think I prefer tea throughout the day. I am always sipping on something- and Celestial Seasonings has some great ones! Can't wait for your reviews!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your meal plan for the week! Everything sounds so fresh and delicious
I hope everyone feels better, this cold has been going around. I didn't know about ginger and gallstones (I have them), I better look into that, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI keep trying to convince myself that I'm going to quite coffee and start my day with tea, but I just can't do it. Tea reminds me of being sick. I am 100% a coffee lover!
ReplyDeletewhat a great delivery! I am a BOTH drinker. I like my cup o joe in the morning and then tea the rest of the day. I don't drink coffee every morning but i'd say 5 days a week I do. it's soooo good.
ReplyDeleteglad you liked the tea and feel better! sorry toddler go sick. sweet lil thing. I hate it when our kids get sick.
and I made your salmon cakes over salad greens on Saturday...with the wasabi mayo. oh so goooood.
I really look forward to a big cup of coffee in the morning (I went about 6 years caffeine-free btwn pregnancy of #1 through weaning #3) but also love herbal tea, iced tea, anything tea! I drink my coffee with organic half and half and it's sooo good!
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon Mom and Dad!

ReplyDeletei like tea but i love coffee. I am always looking to increase my tea and decrease my java though!
Ah, the Celestial Seasonings came at the right moment! I hope you guys feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI also just got mine, and I happened to have a nasty tummyache too!
I love coffee in the morning, but tea in the evening. Morning = energizer, and evening = detoxer! :-)
i drink tea! decaf!
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon, I hope those teas will help! quite a great selection there1
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon. I like to have a balance of both. One cup of coffee in the morning and then teas throughout the day. It's a great way to get antioxidants.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and your family feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteI love tea. Green tea, peppermint, roibos etc.
Unfortunately, I get the WORST stomach ache if I even just have one sip of coffee. :(
I'm a tea and a coffee drinker. I love, love mint tea!
ReplyDeleteI brew 3 cups of coffee in the morning - 1/2 decaf, 1/2 regular coffee. I was worried a while back I was getting addicted to caffiene and didn't like it. This half and half works great for me.
ReplyDeleteI like peppermint green tea best, though I don't drink it a lot.
I love tea too! I'm so tempting to try all those flavours. hehe.... Look like you've the whole week meal plan done. Ya, so good to have hubby to join in as well! Hope he has fun too.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day!
Cheers, Kristy
Oh I hope the hubby does a guest post tonight on your dinner. I am actually trying to get mine to write one on this fitness thing I was asked to review. Hehe!
ReplyDeleteI am a coffee drinker first, tea drinker second. Literally and figuratively. I drink coffee all morning and then, because I miss it in the afternoon and evening, I drink tea ;)
I like coffee and tea. My favourite brand of tea is Stash...
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that everyone is feeling better!
I am a coffee drinker, but I also drink tea. My fave peppermint tea is made by plantation teas. I drink that alot. As well as Twinnings and Tetly brand teas.
