Banana Bread & White on Rice

Well, I've said it before, I'm not excited that summer is coming to an end... But, I have decided that it all depends on how you look at it. And fall has it's advantages too. One thing I like about fall is that I feel a bit more like baking. So when I saw a Banana Bread with Chocolate & Walnuts onHolly's blog, I had to make it. It's actually Holly's grandma's recipe, but she added the chocolate and the nuts.

The bread turned out well despite the fact that I was short by one banana and therefore couldn't put one on the top. Yes, it's true, I just can't follow a recipe...

On to the next topic. Many of you know that Lynn Chen's (from The Actors Diet) movie "White on Rice" is opening Friday. Here is a letter from Lynn with more info. I hope those of you who live close to where the movie will be playing are going to have a chance to see it! :o)

Hello Everyone!

Starting this weekend my movie “White on Rice” opens in limited release – it’s a comedy I acted in over two summers ago, had an amazing time making, and I couldn’t be happier with the finished product. The official site with trailer and complete info is at:

Getting an indie film into movie theaters these days is no easy feat and our success depends largely on our friends, families, and community being involved during opening weekend. If you or people you know live in one of the areas where “White on Rice” will play (see below), please support us by purchasing a ticket and encouraging others to as well!

If you’ve already seen the movie at a film fest or sneak preview (thank you!) I’d appreciate it if you would actively spread the word – every ticket helps our chances of expanding across the country. We don’t have a big budget for marketing so we rely heavily on word-of-mouth - chat us up at parties, email your friends, twitter, facebook, message boards, etc….

Here are the theaters we’re starting out in – for each one, we are booked for about one week, and will hopefully extend our stay if we do well at the box office.

Lynn Chen

Pretty exciting, no? Well, again, I hope you'll get to see the movie if it's playing close to where you live...

Questions: Now that fall is almost here, do you feel like baking? What's the last thing that you've baked?

Be well,

  1. That bread looks so good!!! I love chocolate chips in banana bread - one of my favorite combos :)

I love baking, but I rarely do it; my husband and I both have a self-control issue! I wish I was joking, but I'm not...I have such a sweet tooth and anytime baked goods are in my house, I just want to eat them everyday. I can't even remember the last thing I baked!!! Actually - I think I made rice krispie treats a couple months ago - though that hardly counts as baking...

  2. Banana and chocolate are classic and delicious together.

  3. Ohhhhhhhh baking!

I don't know.... the Teen bakes cookies on occassion but that's just his thing...
OH I baked eggplant parmesan.... but if your talking about a bread type thing.... pumpkin or banana bread sounds perfect to start off fall!

nice I am going to have to give it a go!!!!

  4. mmm i am in love with that bread i need to make it, i think that every time i see someone making it.. gotta get on it! and i cant wait to see lynns movie! i love baking. most recent: almond chiaseed protein muffins.

  5. hey dear - thanks so much for posting this!!! and i can't wait for it to get colder so i can start "baking" again - well, opening a box and turning on my oven, that is....

I definitely feel more on baking! Love the warm oven and smell flavor in the house! :)

  7. Oh that bread looks delicious!

  8. I wish themovie was playing around here!! Ohio stinks...haha, jk, I love it here. During the fall (my favorite season) I will be baking a LOT. Actually just experimenting. I plan on making (attempting) pumpkin donuts and ice cream! The last thing I baked? Oh boy...granola I guess, just the other day.

  9. I love to fire up the oven in the fall! I just baked some mini muffins last night!

I like to bake high fiber bran muffins. I pretend they are just as good as the Zen Bakery ones, but they really are not. Lol.

Lynn has my support. Gonna catch her movie hopefully on Sunday.
